Overview
The Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic take the acclaimed Apple iPod Earphones and add a control capsule, located on the cable of the right earpiece, that includes a microphone and three buttons.
Here's what you can do with this convenient remote:*

Okay, I'm on my second pair of these in just two weeks. After one week, the remote functions stopped working, so Apple replaced it…Read more. Now with the second ones, I'm having not only remote problems (sometimes the volume/pause work, sometimes they don't), but they mysteriously cause my iPod Touch 2G to start playing my iTunes music even though I've set it to pause and auto-lock. The Touch is sitting on a table without anything possibly hitting it, and suddenly it just starts playing my music. If I unhook the earphones, I don't experience this mysterious sudden playing. I also noticed that when I plug the earphones into my Touch, it causes the volume slider to jump around suddenly. Very disappointing because I really wanted a remote for my Touch 2G.

I have a iPod touch 2G, and even though there are integrated volume controls on the side, you still have to get it out of your poc…Read moreket and then change them. The remote, however, is located ON the cable for easy volume up and down controls plus play/pause song controls. The one inconvenience for me is that the remote is a little to high, but I'm just nit picking. Overall, definitely worth the 30 bucks plus tax. 4/5 for that one tiny inconvenience.

Instead of having to double click the home screen and then hitting the pause button you can just click the remote on your earbuds. So MUCH easier when your iPod is locked.

I bought these to replace my lost original set for my iPod Touch 2g. I found the sound quality for recording is excellent consider…Read moreing the size of the microphone.
I use iTalk to record and iTalk Sync for Windows to upload my recordings to desktop. It recorded kids running at the above appartment better then my Logitech headset with mic on my laptop.
I love the volume control and song Next/Previous when I walk the dog. I don't have to keep reaching for my iPod.

This product is very useful to have. I am using it for the ipod touch(2nd Gen)The microphone is great and picks up all kinds of so…Read moreunds. You just have to remember not to put your finger over it! This mic allows you to use many applications. The remote controls are great and easier to use than the touch screen. My only dislike is that sometimes you have to twist the input certain ways to get the remote control and mic to work. If you have an ipod touch(2nd gen) and the mic and remote don't work at first, don't worry. Just keep twisting the headphones in.
