Didn't Think They Would Work
Written by TM from Kalamazoo

So I asked for these for my birthday recently because I have always wanted around the ear headphones. I expected them to cancel so…Read moreme noise out just by sound dampening and thick foam pads. Now, after just opening the box, I haven't even turned on the noise canceling and I am already satisfied. I didn't expect the noise canceling to do anything really. Switch it on and I realize how much of the surrounding noise is background noise. The stereo in the apartment below, the overheating video game system whirring. It truly is amazing. If you can try a friend's pair out or go to a Bose store, you will understand what I mean. Absolutely fantastic even without music playing. And they are even better when it is.

Just What I Wanted
Written by CL from WENATCHEE

Working professionally with audio and video for 13 years, I understand that sound is pretty subjective for most people. I have rea…Read mored many reviews and bought several headphones over the years. The QC2 turned out to be just what I wanted.
NOISE CANCELING - most effective I've ever heard (or not heard?), whether in a plane/train/automobile, a live concert setting, or an office; no discernible hiss which normally accompanies noise canceling technology, unless perhaps you're in a silent room. This was the top reason I forked out $300.
COMFORT - by far the most comfortable I've ever owned. As others have reported, I can wear them for hours and almost forget to take them off.
SOUND - while I wouldn't say they are the best, they are very good for my purposes. Bass could be more defined or have more punch, but the best word I can think of to describe the sound is smooth.
CONSTRUCTION - after 14 months of frequent use, my QC2's are still in perfect condition. I've had none of the problems described by others.
VALUE - I find Bose products are typically overpriced, and these are no exception. This is the main reason I didn't give them a higher rating. And yet when these do give out some day, they'll probably be a tough act to follow.(7 of 9 people found this review useful)

BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK

This set of headphones is the best accessory that you can buy for any music player. It is very expensive but if you are looking fo…Read morer the best quality you can get and money is not a question that this is for you. You will find that these headphones provide everything you need in a sound system and exceed that. You can hear nothing around you with the volume about half way up and the quality of the
sound is up to Bose's high top level standards. If money is not a problem these are the most comfortable, best sound quality and most sound reducing headphones on the market.(24 of 37 people found this review useful)

B.O.S.E. (Buy Other Sound Equipment)

... is an acronym most audiophiles seem to agree on when it comes to Bose. The company which brought us the Wave music system has …Read morefor many years rested on its laurels. Like its competitors Bang & Olufsen and Nakamichi, Bose has used its name to demand a big premium for its products, to great effect.
The QC2s are a decent enough pair of headphones – or, at least they would have been, if they cost $100; but they cost USD $299. Comfort aside, there's no explaining away the flat, uninspired sound and sometimes muddy bass. The fact that the $95 Grado SR80s and $139 Etymotic ER6i's blow the QC2s out of the water (to say nothing of Sennheiser's similarly priced offerings) makes justifying their $299 price tag that much more difficult.(535 of 756 people found this review useful)

Great Sound, Comfortable, but Fragile!
Written by KR from SOCORRO

The plastic headband breaks. I am a computer programmer and use my QC2's just about every day at work. They have extremely good …Read moresound and can be worn for hours a day very comfortably. The problem is that the plastic headband breaks. My first pair lasted 9 months. Bose replaced them under warranty. My second pair, after being extremely gentle with them, broke in 18 months. Even though they were out of warranty, Bose kindly replaced them with a brand new set. My third pair lasted for 25 months. Again Bose graciously has agreed to replace them out of warranty.
Thank you Bose, but why not just fix the problem?

Great sound and comfortable for long periods of listening
Written by MF from Toronto

The active noise cancellation is really good on these, but the units do seem a bit pricey compared to others. Ambiant white noise …Read moreis dramatically reduced which is great for aircraft noise and generally background noise at the office. However voices etc. are audible (slightly muted).
I find these very comfortable for long listening periods but occasionally find my ear drums slightly irritated. From other sites, this is apparently a result of the noise cancellation added pressure on the ear.
All in all a good pair of great sounding head phones. There is definitely a premium being paid though for the Bose name.(273 of 358 people found this review useful)
