Worth every penny

I've owned these for the better part of three years, and they've been nothing but flawless. Super clear, super revealing, and surp…Read morerisingly solid bass, especially if you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND USE THE FOAM EARPIECE COVERS. They are what permits the proper fit in the ear, allowing proper bass performance. I can safely say that there's nothing I don't like about these, as these have held up to my years of heavy use, and they're all the better for it. At this point, I don't think I'd buy anything else.

Divine Intervention in the Ear

Pro
This is one of the best earphones that I have heard so far. The sound is perfectly balanced. Crystal clear sound. The music…Read more in the left and the right channel can be comfortably distinguished. Even the ringing of a bell lingers in your ears while others give a flat sound. The earphones fit perfectly in the ears. It performed extremely well in Hindi Tracks (Bollywood - Indian Cinema Songs) and quite well on a lot of English songs (Green Day, Linkin Park, Eagles, Enrique etc). I would definitely agree with the others that this lacks bass sounds (Failed in Lollipop, Something to remember, Hung Up ). Though the song played well,it lacked the punch. The reason being it has a frequency range of 50-20kHz. One could set the iPod to hip hop or rock mode and it performs decently well. One could enjoy music at a very low volume. I assume that it might not be very good for R&B songs which have lot of Bass. But the clarity is something that amazed me in an instant. Classical music is something which is marvelous to listen to in this ear phones. Every single breath of the singer can be heard. The mids and the highs are well highlighted. The lows are sufficiently good. Not that bad at all as stated in several reviews.
Con
The great thing about this ear phones is that, it is very comfortable to wear and very elegant to look at, a basic feature like all the B&O products. But if one does not wear these headphones properly they sound like any other cheap headphones. The whole technique lies in wearing it properly. (It takes four or five times to get used to wearing and not a big deal at all). Make sure you put on the foam pads provided for the speaker for a better comfort fit.
These headphones become a hinderance when you have to pick up a call, because you have to remove the headphones very carefully before actually keeping the phone onto the ears.
Also, I would suggest people wearing spectacles to try them because of it's peculiar around ear support design.
This is not a noise isolation earphone.
But these problems are trivial and can be solved in a jiffy.
Buying Tips
Before buying this product, make sure which kind of music you listen to. If you are not sure then take your iPod along with you, sit down in tranquility, play a few songs, grade it and then buy.
Verdict
There is a lot of difference between Form 2 and A8 especially when it comes to clarity. Before buying I also heard Bose in ear, Denon AH C551 and some model of Sennheiser ; I found that B&O is by far one of the best in ear phones in its class.
B&O A8 is the best headphones in ear bud type.

Bang & Olufsen A8 Headphones
Mind Blowingly clear and ultra comfortable! A+++

5 STARS with a bullet!
I've heard over 150 headphones over the years. Koss Sennheiser, Sony, Denon, Bose. Every one seems to have…Read more a trade off. Well Bang and Olufsen weighed the trade offs and selected the best possible mix of portability, sound quality and durability.
Others assume you have an "Average" size ear. Not Bang and Olufsen, they have this ultra cool "Piston" made of aluminum that you can EXACTLY adjust it like a mini hydraulic shock! So you adjust the ear bud height to exactly the distance of the top of your ear to the ear canal. Then the ear bud can pivot inwards, and if that was not enough--get this.... the ear loop is actually hinged, so it fits over ear glasses and sunglasses and can be removed easily without having to take off your glasses.
-neat trick. After fitting the headphones I twist the earpiece outward so when I release it presses the ear bud inward for a comfortable seal. Perfect fit everytime....Ahhhhhhh..
The bass response is far better than any other non-sealing ear bud- listening to techno tracks is a dream- even and bass heavy 80's music. Hearing Miles Davis, Kind of Blue was a revelation. So much detail and nuance I never knew was there before- even when listening at on a $25,000 reference system. Listening to massed choral voices, I can hear individual performers take their in breath at the end of each verse!!!! I have never been this close to the music, this comfortably.
When playing loudly they don't distort easily, and since the IPOD is a little Bass light- they really make my IPOD more listenable. I used to prefer the sound of my Creative ZEN player, but once these were paired with the IPOD it was sonic nirvana. But Bang and Olufsen is really foolish to offer a 3-year warranty. I'm sure that no pair of headphones would ever last me more than a year, so I guess I'll be getting new ones every year for free.
For all the time I spend commuting- this is well spent money.

In my opinion, these didn't sound any better than B&O and I couldn't see spending more than double the price of an I-pod for headphones. These are worth every penny I paid! Take my word for it, go out and buy now...life is too short! Incredible bass and overall exceptional sound quality. They look awesome and can be adjusted to fit your ears like a glove. Also comes with a nice carrying case.

Bang & Olufsen A8 Headphones
minor tweeking.

after days of deliberating on whether or not to buys these, i took the plunge and spent the full retail price, $160 at an apple st…Read moreore. i was disappointed at first, but after some minor adjustments they're really terrific. i listen to alot of rock music, but the bass is very important, and like alot of reviews other than mine, it's safe to say it's a little lacking. i did a few things that seemed to help. first, the actual ear pieces are a bit large, and i think that's where some of the bass is lost. it seemed to help by using the foam covers that come with the headphones, it traps the sound better (and it's more comfortable with them on). the next thing i did was edit all of my songs in itunes by putting the bass booster on. then on my ipod, i switched the EQ to bass booster (twice the normal amount). not the most bass, but it improved about 60 percent. the good thing about these phones are that they are incredibly comfortable. the sound is also really rich and clear, and outside noise it hard to hear. i am a musician, and even i noticed new things in the songs i had heard a thousand times before. lastly, they just look so cool, and that's where they really sucker you. form right next to fuction, and worth the price, but just barely.
