More About That Buzzing
Written by JB from Kittery Point

They'd be fine for the price...except for that buzz from the tweaters that some other reviewers have mentioned. I will try to …Read morewarranty mine, as judging from some other reviews, it may not be every pair affected. I bought these to try and use as reference monitors to mix a recording. The high static buzz that is produced with higher frequency music passages is almost too much to bare. It sounds like a torn speaker cone. I've compared them with a pair of AKG headphones and concluded that indeed it is the M Audio AT20 speakers that create that noise. Try them out in the store, save your receipt, listen carefully, or find a better pair of monitors...

Great Bang for the Buck!!

I tried the new Bose Computer MusicMonitors and they were really great. But, were they 3 times better than the AV20's? Not to me. …Read moreI'm really happy with these AV20's. Clean crisp sound with good (unlike a few others) bass. The bottom line is $500.00 vs. $180.00. The Bose don't justify that wide a spread.

These speakers sound great. I just got them today while shopping with some christmas money in my local Apple store. I have had a f…Read moreew sets of Altec Lansing premium speakers and 2 sets of Klipsch speakers before. And these sound better than any of those. I would say they need more bass but for what they are which is a simple desktop or portable set of stereo sound computer/ipod speakers they sound GREAT!!!!

Disappointed
Written by MB from Fort Wayne

I bought these speakers after reading positive reviews of other products made by M-Audio (I couldn't find any serious reviews of t…Read morehis specific item), but these speakers did not meet the quality I was expecting. When they are not playing any sound, there is a constant background static noise, and when playing music, the fuzz/static is amplified on certain frequencies. The music itself sounds great, but the buzzing makes it too distracting and frustrating to want to listen. At first it sounds like a bad input as if someone is playing a radio station through them, but it is not from my computer since the small external speakers that came with my iMac G4 sound much clearer. I also tried playing them through my MacBook with the same result.

Best affordable monitors
Written by DT

Feature:
They have some good features like the protection called output current limiting that protects the drivers from blowing t…Read morehem out when you turn them up loud. So I don't ever have to worry about damaging these monitors. But all other M-Audio monitors have this feature. Plus it has a voltage selector so you can use these monitors in a different country and also that have a fuse inside the monitors but you will have to remove the cover to see that fuse and to replace it. The other cool feature it has is that the tweeters point towards you when you have them on your desk so you don't have to level them to your ears like normal monitors.
Quality:
These are build very well and durable they are pretty heavy for there size but all that means is the parts inside are good. They use MDF type enclosure like other M-Audio monitors and use the same high tech stuff that other M-Audio monitors use.
Value:
They are worth every penny since they are built well and durable and use good parts inside.
Desirability:
They look really attractive and nice since they have that angle shape so the tweeters point towards your ears when you place them on your desktop.
Sound:
I really like how these sound for the price I mean they do make clear low punchy bass and clear highs. The mids are good too. They really sound like a miniture studio monitor.
Ease of Use:
It's very simple to use you just turn the volume control clockwise and the power goes on and just keep turning them until they are loud enough for you. It's very simple to connect the monitors to your computer or MP3 player etc. They come with a RCA cord that converts to normal male type headphone jack.
Support:
The tech support is very helpful that know alot about there products and can guide you to help fix any issues you have with M-Audio products. Only thing I don't like is the wait time is very long and could take acutaly upto 40 min depending how busy they are to talk to them.
Overall:
I also like these since they are very slender and don't take up space at all. Remember thay are only like 5 watts per channel so they can't go really loud like bigger speakers can but if you have them at normal volume they sound great but if you turn them too loud they will start to distort. But you don't have to worry about blowing them since they have the protection called output current limiting.(98 of 168 people found this review useful)
