My only complaint is they are very bulky, even the power adaptor is bigger than other G-Tech drives making it difficult to stuff in a laptop bag.

Let me start by saying I have never posted a review before, but I am so upset at the lack of quality control on these drives. I ha…Read moreve purchased five "G-Tech 1TB G-RAID 2 drives" within the last 6 months for a large documentary film project. Three of them have crashed on our edit team, two, to the point of no repair and the third just happened which has fueled this email. I can't begin to tell you the problems it has caused our film project. PLEASE, do yourself a favor, DON'T PURCHASE THIS DRIVE if you are dealing with large amount a data, or any data for that matter. I was told that they are worth the extra dollars, nothing could have been farther from the truth.

Info

This is not a review of this product, but info for those who don't know exactly what RAID 0 means. I noticed a few people talking…Read more about using this for backing up their data. I hope they mean making a duplicate copy of it because RAID 0 devices are roughly twice as likely to fail and lose all your data as a single drive. This is because the data in a RAID 0 configuration is broken up into small pieces scattered across both drives. If one drive fails, the data on the other drive is lost as well. Assuming each drive has an equal chance of failure as a single disk, this makes you twice as likely to lose your data due to hard drive failure. The advantage of RAID 0 is that you get high write and read speeds. That's why the description of the product is talking about high performance for video streaming.
I haven't used this product, so the stars above don't mean anything.(196 of 242 people found this review useful)

This drive fails to mount -or- will only mount intermittently. I went to G-Tech Support and found numerous emails to Tech Support regarding the same issue --but no solution to the problem except to return it to G-Tech! Looking at the blogs, this failure to mount issue is not specific to this drive but occurs WITH ALL G-TECH DRIVES! TAKE A LOOK YOURSELF. I am hoping to get an RMA on Monday and return this thing. I had a LaCie for years and no failure - I bought the hype about this drive and I'm now paying the price on a Sunday afternoon!
