Why all the fuss
Written by PG from South San Francisco

I upgraded to Leopard a couple of weeks ago and was unable to use PSE 2. I too was hesitant to order it after reading some of the…Read more reviews here but eventually did. The changes from PSE2 to PSE6 were shocking at first but after a couple of days I began to recognize how great the changes in editing photos was. Opening up in full screen was a little annoying to begin with but was easy enough to get used to after deselecting 'fill workspace background' in the general preferences pane.
My only real gripe is with the Canon lide80 scanner I have. It refuses to work with PSE6 using the intel processor. I overcame that by opening PSE6 using Rosetta and the scanner works fine. If you have the same problem with your Canon scanner don't bother to go to Canons support software driver page. Even though it lists an updated driver it refuses to install on my G5 mac after downloading.
Otherwise PSE6 is well worth the cheap price compared to any other photo editors.(28 of 31 people found this review useful)

Familiarity breeds confidence

PSE was recommended to me by my stepson (who is a professional photographer) and who uses a Mac himself for all of his processing.…Read more
I had no trouble installing the software on my iMac.
It was pleasing to see the old familiar Photoshop interface, which I had used on my former PC (which had died, so I changed to a Mac - good move!)
I would class myself as a serious amateur photographer, with a reasonable grasp of the basic features of Photoshop. It was nice to be able to dive straight in on my iMac and confidently use the program.
Good value at the price...I would recommend it to my friends(73 of 78 people found this review useful)

When I heard that 6.0 was coming out I was very hesitant about purchasing since 4.0 was a let down. However after reading the article in MacWorld feb 2008 issue I decided to give it a try. Well I'm writing this to let everyone know MacWorld didn't lie and 6.0 is gooooood to goooo in my book a lot faster than 4.0 almost can't believe the same company put it out. I highly recommend this software to all you starting and semipro to pro photographer on a budget you get you dollars worth here.

Could be better - one annoying feature - otherwise not bad

Upon installation nothing worked. Trashed all the preference folders for versions three and four. Voila! Adobe clearly knows about…Read more this one since they give a warning in the Read Me file but no software should be released with this bug.
Anyway, it works pretty well although it will never be as intuitive as Elements 3. The new features are welcome and work ok. I like it better than Elements 4.
The program takes up the entire real estate on your screen, however, and there is no way to re-size it. This is not only annoying but arrogant on the part of Adobe. Believe it or not, many of us will need to have windows for other programs accessible while working in Elements 6.
I don't care much for the dark work screens but I will get used to them.
Overall, it is a welcome upgrade to 4.0 but could be better. Let's get a fix for that full-window issue.(515 of 589 people found this review useful)

Be FOREWARNED the whole program functions within one FULL screen _aw_window. You loose all the floating window capabilities that Mac u…Read moresers are accustomed to. Therefore to see items on the desktop you have to minimize the application, which is a pain.... because the there is NO minimize button... Photoshop 7 and CS users will hate it..
BUT great features and great editing capabilities for the money. You can't beat that.(476 of 538 people found this review useful)
