Airport Extreme Card
Written by KR from Saylorsburg

Works like a "Charm" with the Airport Express Base Station. I can even print wirelessly from a Windows laptop. Once again Apple has made it easy and doesn't limit usability to just their own hardware/software configurations, as the other Micro-Major software company does.

Apple screwed this up for the Mac Pro
Written by DK from Germantown

Not only will this card not work with the Mac Pro, there's no user installable Apple alternative that will: you have to buy a special card and have it installed at an Apple store or authorized dealer, a real hassle. Unbelievable. Unlike virtually every other desktop computer manufacturer on the planet, adding wireless to a Mac Pro requires a service visit (unless you have it installed at the factory).

Doesn't fit Mac Pro - go 3rd party
Written by JW from Mesa
20-Jun-2008
The statement "not compatible with the Mac Pro or the Power Mac G5 Dual and Power Mac G5 Quad computers introduced in October 2005" is misleading. My Mac Pro was bought in Sept 2007, so I figured mine was newer than the one referenced in this statement. The order-taker on the phone also assured me this would fit. It doesn't. Now I either have to take my Mac Pro in to a store to have them install a "non-user installable" card (which is different, and not sold separately by Apple), or go with a 3rd party product. If they could only tell me what the store-installed upgrade would cost, I could make the decision now...

Its about time that this was updated to the N protocol.

How to Slow Down Your Network
Written by AC from Delaware

When is Apple going to replace this card with a .n version? Beware, if you install this card you will slow your entire wireless network down to .g speeds and get reduced connection distances. After coughing up a lot of money to get .n wireless devices, it appalls me that Apple can't get it's act together to upgrade this simple but essential device.

NOT compatible with 2008 Mac Pro, but MB363Z/A is
Written by KR from New City
18-Apr-2008
Like the description says, this won't work in an 8-core 2008 Mac Pro. I walked into my local Apple Store and asked for a MB363Z/A upgrade kit for a 2008 Mac Pro. They pulled one out of the back and it was mine for $43.99. Installation was tricky as this isn't supposed to be an end-user serviceable part. But I got it installed OK. It works flawlessly. I was up and on my wireless network in no time. Airport Extreme is awesome.

AirPort Extreme Card
Refurbished works as well as new one
Written by DM from huntsville

Was a little hesitant about buying an air card refurbished. But, at $29, what could hurt. I have it installed in a 1.8ghz G5 desktop and it works flawlessly with my Linksys router from 30 feet away. Of course, with an aluminum case like a tank, you really need the plastic antenna on the back to overcome all that metal interference. Once I added the antenna, I get all bars and stream nicely to my plasma TV. Also, just like most apple equipment, easy to install and set up. Thanks, Apple.
