    Useless in Windows environment

If you think you can get the Airport Express to work on a Windows network you're sadly mistaken. Unless maybe you're a network engineer. I was very naive in thinking that I might be the one that figures it out. Steer very much clear and go with something that works right out of the box like the Roku Soundbridge, Linksys MediaCenter\MusicBridge, or even DLink MediaLounge if all you're looking to do is stream some tunes wirelessly to your stereo. I'll be avoiding iTunes as well while I'm at it.

I don't doubt this all works flawlessly with a full Apple setup, but trying to get this to go in a Windows environment will leave you extremely frustrated not to mention with a very unsecure network I can guarentee it. I could buy the Extreme base station, but then I'm at close to $300.00 for the ability to wirelessly stream audio to my stereo. That's assuming the Extreme can actually be setup without a masters degree and 10 hours to spare. There are plenty of cheaper options out there that really are plug and play. If it actually is easier than this to get setup, then Apple's documentation is pitifully sub-standard in this area.

I was considering slowly moving over to an all Apple setup, but don't have the scratch for a new Mac, new Extreme base station, and all the other hardware I'd need to make it all work properly. I'll just continue to stick with what works. Stay with one or the other. Don't start mixing and matching Apple\PC hardware.

I'm really disappointed it doesn't work as Apple claims. Not even remotely close.

I received this as a gift (of course I asked for it bcoz my wife would have no clue) in order to leverage my iTunes and iPhone remote... This is sooo cool. I will probably add an airport express and speakers per room. The only sad thing is that I can't control volume per airport. Maybe in the next iTunes release???

Anyways, I highly recommend this. I was never of an Apple freak but this really is an exciting piece of technology!

I am very pleased with this product! I live in a small 1 B/R condominium and the Airport Express performs flawlessly.
It is easy to setup - just READ the instructions, and your Apple wireless network will be running within 15 minutes.

I received this as a xmas present, and I have to admit I was kinda of disappointed judging from the size of the router. However I plugged it in and within about 5 minutes I was blown away with the speed and range of this little thing! I would recommend this to everyone that's looking for a cheap and easy way to get a faster internet and better range!

Excellent Product but software install is very tricky

The little network device has a lot packed inside. Excellent for streaming to your music throughout your house. Add an iTouch and you are able to manage you music in the house where ever you are. Truly great but a bit pricey.

Only draw back in the software. It expects you to understand geek talk. For Apple I would expect better.

Airport Express has been impossible to set up for Airtunes. I have tried with two different units. I give up.
Further, I had to spend an hour online just to find out that a flashing amber indicator light is "normal" for use during Airtunes, though in the manual this goes unmentioned, only listing flashing amber as an indicator of problems. This product itself is an indicator of problems.

Was pretty easy to set up with software pre installed on new macs and the printer was easy to but after a while it stopped working. When I added iMac to my house I was offered anther printer I took it and again it worked but after awhile it stopped.

    I Love Airport Express

I just bought my Airport Express today--brought it home and set it up in about 5 minutes. It was so easy. My connection is super fast. It was also very simple to set up a password to secure my network. I've had a Linksys base for the past 5 years and had a lot of problems with my connection.
I highly recommend the Airport Express. Two thumbs up!!

Little router with a big impact

I got the Airport Express to replace my Linksys WRT54G router, which was dropping my connection all the time to my two macs.

I couldn't believe the size of this little thing. It's pretty much the same size as the power adapter for my powerbook! It's pretty funky looking, not big and awkward looking like my linksys router either.

Works as advertised too... I did an online speed test for both my macs and scored an all-time high for my powerbook and imac! Unreal speed to say the least, I'm thrilled.

Pros: Great speed, stylish, small, works with my stereo too :)

Cons: I gotta admit, it was a little difficult to set up this router. Not as easy to set up for me as running the Airport Utility, I had to configure a few things with my ISP. Oh well, it was worth the wait! It's a little pricey too for a router but if it continues to perform like this, yeah, I can justify the extra $$$.

great wireless system--- much much easier than any other wireless unit i ever used... it took me about an hour to figure out all the tech terms that apple walks you through but it finally worked and it is fast! -- i currently use optimum online as my isp and am very happy with the airport!
