Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe for iPhone and iPod
Very poor quality
Written by DC from Santa Barbara

Very poor quality on all fronts. I still get the "not compatible switch to Airplane Mode" message with my 3g iPhone from time to time. I have the most recent updates on my iPhone as of 10/08. I have to un-dock and re-dock it quite often to get the audio to work. The grasping mechanism only works correctly 75% of the time. Will not grasp or release the iPhone at all if you plan on positioning the iPod/Phone to the left or right of the Aux Port. The included remote only works on occasion. Swivel mechanism on the back of this is very large and as a result the iPhone sticks out pretty far out from the dashboard (there isn't a profile
I read the mixed reviews and bought this anyway because there doesn't seem to be anything comparable out there. I would wait until something better comes out.(5 of 5 people found this review useful)

Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe for iPhone and iPod
Best solution yet for my 3G iPhone
Written by OF from PATERSON

Just received my LiquidAUX today, hooked it up in my car and it worked flawlessly! Had to use the extra side pads and extend the back panel forward to hold my iPhone 3G snugly in place, but it didn't move at all during the bumpy commute. Sound quality is perfect, and I had already raised the volume specifically for my AUX input through the audio settings in my BMW. Phone did not complain about incompatibility and airplane mode. Remote works very nicely and fit snugly over my steering wheel. The only issue was that the remote's shuffle button did not do anything on my phone. For those complaining about whine and noise, Kensington has a solution:
When using an auxiliary device in the car, you might hear a slight buzzing sound, engine noise, or high-pitched whine. That is because your car model has a grounding issue between the audio system and the power socket, which causes a whining or buzzing sound when you drive. This sound is not caused by your Kensington product; however, Kensington has an easy solution. Simply purchase an automotive ground loop isolator for your car that is compatible with a 3.5-mm jack. This simple tool will enable you to use your music in a safe, hands-free environment.(9 of 12 people found this review useful)

Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe for iPhone and iPod
Poor Quality; few other options

Great looks but it stops there. Cheaply made, very flimsy. I put this in a brand new luxury vehicle and have high pitched engine noise through speakers when listening to i-phone at low volumes. Flex rod barely holds weight of iphone. No other options I've seen on market, but will switch when one becomes available.

Do NOT Waste Your Time or Money

This item is a horrible product. For $100 it should be top quality. I looks streamline, and it intends to do what we all want it to do, but it fails...MISERABLY. I am surprised apple sells it on its own site.

Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe for iPhone and iPod
Quite functional, but...
Written by HM from Ridley Park

The unit itself is quite adjustable, however a small plastic unit with this much adjustability can't claim to be the most sturdy. For the price tag, one would want the unit to be a little more "tough", but I think what they were going for is "features".
This being said, one should be careful when purchasing this unit that they have room for this, as the arm is not very long.
Also note, that is you have a weak car stereo, you'll get a much louder and fuller sound through the headphone output [which uses the iPhone/iPod internal amplifier] jack, than using this unit's "line out" [which bypasses the internal amplifier. You'll have to crank your stereo louder, and the EQ usually tapers off on most car stereo's when the amplifier is turned that high, thus the sound will most likely be more flat. The EQ of the iPhone or iPod is more than adequate if you don't have ears trained for audio engineering/editing.
It was so bad for me that I use the headphone jack instead [and I have an upgraded stereo in my car, which could more than handle the line output, but that extra kick is worth it to use the headphone jack].
That being said, one would think this to be a waste of $50 vs going with the cheeper model without the aux audio port. But there is a plus to this unit... the remote.
If you are concerned with safety and find yourself looking away from the road to change songs on your unit, the wireless remote of this unit will make that extra $50 dollars worth it, if anything else, because $50 is worth the extra safety and ease of use.
As of the unit itself, there's a lot of adjustability [if you're really into all of that - I just want a functional stand], the arm is not as rigid as I would like, but fortunately for me, I was able to prop the stand in a corner between my air-conditioning console and the center console, this keeps it from vibrating and falling over.
I like unit better than my suction cup unit that I mounted on my windshield, as now I have a bit more visibility, and this one is has quite a low profile and keeps out of your way.
All that out of the way, I give 5 stars because this is the best unit to date and it has a remote, which attaches to my wheel, it's very tight fitting so it doesn't slip, ad now I can not have to look away from the road to change songs, so for me it's worth it [even if it's expensive - better safe than sorry].(8 of 10 people found this review useful)

Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe for iPhone and iPod
Not totally compatible
Written by BL from houston

I don't normally write reviews, however, I was so disappointed with this product, that I could not resist. It charged my iphone 3g as promised, but the loud squeal I received when trying to play music either from the supplied aux input cord, or a headset 3.5mm jack was unbearable. I even received a message saying it was incompatible. Great concept, terrible execution. If you're willing to risk the 10% restocking fee and price to mail back the product, go for it.

Simply the Best! NEXT LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had this devise for two months and it is the best charger/ipod control/holder all in one accessory you will ever need. It holds the display at a great angle, and it stays in place. So far I haven't had any issues with it. Its worth the money (I got it somewhere else for 25 bucks cheaper new) I'm telling you this is great. It comes with a wireless remote you hook up on to the steering wheel or you can just place it in your hand and control your iPods/iPhone features. NEXT LEVEL!!!!!!!!

Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe for iPhone and iPod
Better than expected for $99

I have an '07 Suburban and had a Peripheral I-pod conversion kit installed to work with the GM Stereo/XM/Nav stereo standard with that model that worked perfectly. Since buying the 3G I-phone, I looked for options to replace it and tried this. I have used the standard auxiliary cable for input into the AUX for the 3G and was unimpressed with the sound capability, but this product worked perfectly. I have to use the extended cable, but wrapped it around that arm with electrical tape and it looks great (not rigged). The convenience, sound, and functional utility work great. So much so that I had the more expensive Peripheral system removed for my I-pod and now only use this. No engine noise feedback, and the the audio cuts off when I receive a call perfectly. I use the Suburban off road quite a bit for work, and the unit does not come out of place in rough terrain. Highly recommend this product for those with stereo systems built for AUX input.

Kensington LiquidAUX Deluxe for iPhone and iPod
Not fully 3G compatible
Written by DR from San Diego

Concept: A++
Use for iPhone 3G: C-
This would be the perfect solution for me, but it didn't work well in my 2000 VW Jetta. It did charge the iPhone and I was able to play music from the line out -- but the music was accompanied by a persistent whine that I just couldn't tolerate. Yes, it went away when you put the iPhone in Airplane mode, but I don't want to shut out incoming calls when I'm playing music.
The build quality is so-so (it took some doing to make the arms open properly to position the iPhone) and it can be tricky to place with the short arm leading from the power outlet.
It seems that maybe it works better with the iPhone 3G in some cars than in others, but it wasn't right for me. If Kengington ever makes a truly 3G-compatible version of this product, I'm all over it. But to call its current incarnation 3G-compatible is a stretch.(2 of 4 people found this review useful)
