  1. (1) The AirPort Express Base Station is based on an IEEE 802.11n draft specification and is compatible with IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, and IEEE 802.11g.
  2. (2) Based on a comparison with Apple's 802.11g products. Comparison assumes AirPort Express network with 802.11n-enabled computer. Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network. Accessing the wireless network requires an AirPort- or AirPort Extreme-enabled computer or other Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a/b/g-enabled computer. Actual performance will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network, and other factors. Range will vary with site conditions.
  3. (3) Wireless Internet access requires a wireless-enabled computer, a base station or other access point, and Internet access (fees may apply). Some ISPs are not currently compatible with AirPort Express.

If it worked it'd be 5 stars

I have had mine about 3 weeks now & on my 2nd unit. I bought it to stream iTunes to my desktop speakers, as I hate having loads ofRead more wires plugged into my macBook pro. When it works it's absolutely fine, but the thing is, the sound keeps dropping out, sometimes making it unlistenable. I have tried adjusting the settings, but with no joy. I personally think that there's an incompatibility issue with iTunes 8, and will hopefully be sorted out by an update in the near future, if not, then I will be giving up on it & chucking it in the bin. At the moment it pains me to say, but it's the worst Apple product I have ever bought & it really lets the side down.
Come on Apple, SORT IT OUT!!!

The best product one can buy!!!

I bought this wonderful product from apple and never regretted my decision . Basically I wanted to have a WLAN in my university roRead moreom here in Cambridge from the LAN connection, and it took no time to setup up (I have Windows VISTA).
What really amazes me is the size and the amount of functionality it supports--You can either connect to an existing WIFI network (with whatever security requirement WEP,WPA/WPA2 etc) , or connect directly from your cable modem to set up a new wireless network or make a ethernet connection wireless. It also has a usb port that supports only printing (not hard drive) and a 35mm audio out jack to wireless-ly stream music from itunes. What is really amazing is that you can use all these at the same time!!!
Wonderful product and setup is a breeze for anyone with a little knowledge.
    Highly recommended!!!!

purchased over 18mths ago and rarely gives me any issues. it does what it says on the box without fuss.
i've seen a few reviews rRead moreelating to it being hard to set up - not the case at all. plug it in, run the utility, give your network a name, done.
if it ever dies like some have to othersm i will have absolutely no qualms in going out and buying another.

Greatness in a little white box

Well worth the money! I bought this as a quick fix to extend the wireless network in the old house I live in. The problem I'd beRead moreen having with my wireless router was that due to the density of the walls the wireless signal was not reaching all parts of the house, and so the only way of using the internet/network in some areas was via ethernet cable for each and every device that needed it. However, this little box has changed all that! I now have a single ethernet cable running into the Base Station, and this provides wireless coverage where I need it. It also is great for broadcasting music wirelessly to a stereo, which is a benefit as I use a MacBook Pro, and don't want potential trip hazards everywhere!

As for setting up the device, things couldn't be easier. It worked straight out of the box (although was an unsecured network), and once the software had been installed on my Mac and PC, I was able to set a WEP or WPA/WPA2 password to secure everything. It also works fine connecting with a PS3!

A light on the back of the Base Station displays different colours depending on the status of the device, and any problems can be sorted from the Apple software that you install on your Mac or PC. Broadcasting to your connected speakers is also simple, with a quick and easy change of settings in iTunes.

All in all an excellent piece of kit, with little to fault!

Fast, easy, simple - or should that be express?

Easy to install, 100% more reliable than the BT Home Hub we were using before. I think it's a little quicker but that could just bRead moree some Apple magic in the air.

Airtunes will revolutionise the way we listen to music at home and can't understand why it's not standard on all Apple routers. Printed from the garden yesterday and we live on the upper ground floor of a central London apartment complex.

All I need to do now is find a way of getting it out of the sideboard and on display because it's a funky little bit of kit. Thanks Apple.
