Networking icon

Easy wireless networking.

Connect your DSL or cable modem to the AirPort Extreme Base Station, then quickly set it up with the easy-to-use AirPort Utility, which is included for both Mac OS X and Windows. In minutes, you and up to 50 others can use your Mac computers or PCs to surf the web, stream video, share photos, and more — without wires.2

Dual Band icon

Simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi. NEW

For maximum range and compatibility, AirPort Extreme works simultaneously on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, allowing all the devices on the network to use the most efficient band automatically. And AirPort Extreme uses the latest 802.11n wireless technology so you can enjoy up to five times the performance and up to twice the range of 802.11g wireless networks.3

Guest Networking icon

Guest networking. NEW

Now you can set up a separate Wi-Fi network with a separate password for your visitors. Simply enable the new guest networking feature, and your guests can use the Internet but can't access other parts of your private network, such as your computers, printers, and attached hard drives.

Printer icon

Print without wires.

Have several computers in your home or office but only one printer? No problem. Just connect a compatible printer to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme Base Station, and the printer instantly becomes available to all the computers (Mac and PC) on your wireless or wired network. (See system requirements.)

Drive Sharing icon

Share your hard drive.

You can share an external USB hard drive over your wireless and wired networks by simply connecting it to the USB port on your AirPort Extreme Base Station. Called AirPort Disk, this feature is perfect for sharing files, and more. If you're a MobileMe member using a Mac, you can even access the files on the drive over the Internet.4

Security icon

Strong security and access control.

Rest easy — AirPort Extreme takes strong measures to prevent unauthorized intrusion into your wireless network. It offers a built-in firewall and supports industry-standard encryption technologies including WPA/WPA2 and 128-bit WEP. Yet it's still easy for authorized users to connect to the base station, thanks to its simple setup utility and powerful access controls.

    Nightmare so far.

Perhaps I am missing something because this has been a nightmare to set up and after 2 days Ive just about given up.

I was given Read morethe complete wrong advice by an Apple representative, which I suspected but went along with anyway.

The Utility to install it is ok, but vague enough for non-tech savvy people. The attatched paperwork is completly inadequate and seems like an after thought.

I wasn't thrilled with the price but now I feel like Ive been ripped off. Easy to set up? It hasnt been my experience.

great product but no ADSL support

The unit is great (see other reviews) but note for the non technical people, if you have ADSL comming into your home via your teleRead morephone line (as opposed to cabel) you will need a separate ADSL router. This device will not connect directly to ADSL but will connect to the ADSL router. That can make this a very expensive option.

I bought one of these today. Took about 10 minutes to get a dual network up and running. My iMac is running on the 5ghz network Read moreusing the AEBS & I have left 360, PS3 etc connected to my old Belkin Wireless G Modem \ Router. I had in the past tried both Linksys & Belkin Wireless N devices and they pale in comparison to the AEBS.

Picked this up today from the Apple Store in Southampton, to replace an existing Airport Express network. Set up in 10 minutes, doRead morewnloaded the new firmware update & all is working wonderfully.

iMac, MacBook Air and Apple TV are all blazing along at up to 270 mbps on the 'N' side of the network, and my iPhone is quite happy on the 'G' side of things.

As always, this just works...Apple, you've quite simply done it again for this happy customer!!!

    Brilliant, best buy ever made.

I bought my iMac along with this base station. I hooked it up in my garage as that was where my internet connection was and where Read moreI do most of my photography work. Initially I had some reception issues as I had my iMac in the kitchen, but then the station was going through about 4 solid brick walls. So I moved it to the window just above the garage door and whala, no problems since. I can even pick up the signal on my iPhone at my gate entrance which is over 60m away with no loss of signal. Its been brilliant and my internet connection is never interupted. I can't recomend this product enough. If you need wireless then get this. I connected my printer to it and didn't even have to to anything, the station saw it connected, recognized it and loaded it and I print with no hassel. I have my wireless locked so that no one else can use it but my brothers both have macbooks and connected with no problems when I give them the password. Works just fine with my iPhone too. Love it!! I do wish I had gone for the 1T Base station so that my iMac will back up there than using my external HDD.
