iWork is the way to go

There is no compelling reason to pay for MS Office on the Mac unless you have to exchange documents with other who use it. In that…Read more case you are better off with Office 2004. The lack of VBA/Macros really cripples Office 2008. iWork is great product and is compatible with Office (up through Office 2007) for PC.

This is bad.

I used to be a MAC user until 2000. I have been a PC user for the past 9 years and struggled with office/word/excel/ publisher, I …Read morethought that using a Mac would be better.
I like my new Mac book pro. I absolutely loath office 2008 for MAC. It is pretty much total rubbish. The previous office 97-2003 was far easier, more intuitive and mail merge was far simpler.
The fact that publisher and access are not on the program is irritating.
Right now I wish I had never had to change Office programs.
I only hope and pray that when I start using file maker, mail merging and data control will be easier.
I use my computer to run the back office in my business. Front of house is still using PC.
I would not recommend word for Mac...at all!(35 of 43 people found this review useful)

POOR EXCHANGE SUPPORT!!
Written by ET from Hillsborough

I bought this hoping to have real Microsoft Exchange support on the Mac. Sadly, this does not deliver. Entourage 2008 adds very li…Read morettle over Entourage 2004. Major problems include: 1) Tasks do not sync with Exchange; 2) Notes do not sync with Exchange; 3) There is no ARCHIVE feature as with Outlook; 4) You cannot work with or even import your Windows .pst files; 5) Entourage does not support complex HTML so forwarding or replying to complex HTML emails sends gibberish HTML tags to your recipients.
After four years, I had hoped that Microsoft would deliver an Office product that had the equivalent of Outlook. It has not. Entourage 2008 is all very nice from a usability standpoint, but the lack of full Exchange functionality as well as the lack of full HTML support cripple it.
Microsoft needs to commit to delivering Outlook-compatible functionality ASAP. It has not. Be warned: while the other applications are on par with Windows, the one that most of us use ALL the time and rely on -- email -- is seriously, seriously lacking if you are an Exchange server user.(1419 of 1693 people found this review useful)

Now the "Home and Student" version does not support exchange server. Schools like mine benefited from the previous design, but now we have to buy the full version, and get just one install. Removed VB from Word makes it useless for Academic users

Beware! Word 2008 removed the VB support so EndNote will not work with it! You cannot cite while you write. Basically all function…Read mores of EndNote is gone. And because there is no alternative built in, I have no idea how and when EndNote will upgrade with support. Word 2008 is basically useless for Academic users. Maybe Microsoft did this on purpose to restrain high Mac usage in schools.
