It's alright, but better stick to Office 08
Written by GA from North Dartmouth

I bought a new macbook pro and expected iwork to be phenomenal based on reviews and customer service advice. However, i've used office for my pc for years now, and regret having bought iwork over office 08. If youre used to office, just stick with it; theres nothing special about iwork that office cant do, nor is iwork easier to use...

Great app ... but missing crucial component
Written by IM from Phoenix

This product is great overall... but lacks a crucial component: NO MACRO recording capabilities. Microsoft has dropped this feature in MSWord & suggests that the end-user learn Applescript. Is Apple is following the same example as Microsoft? Hope not! I need a "work-horse" not a "pretty toy"!

Iwork 4 Life
Written by AA from Lethbridge

Worth every penny, numbers is not as useful as excel due to some weird quirks. Like the lack of freezing rows. But hey if you need that, then you probably need a database program, not a spread sheet program.
Once you go pages you never go back!!!
Excellent one click e-mail (any format) capabilities. Ridiculously easy photo editing within document, and the best part of it for my business is the merge fields to your address book when writing, quotes, faxes, letters. Hey if you have time to sit there and type every field every time, chose MS word, me I like making money with my time.(35 of 38 people found this review useful)

Efficiency
Written by AL from San Luis Obispo

iWork simplifies your work experience and is simply the better product to use with your Mac.
-Easy-to-customize toolbars.
-Each program is bundled with helpful templates.
-Runs faster than Microsoft Office on Macs.
-Works with spaces (Microsoft Office isn't compatible with OSX "Spaces").
-Keynote destroys any other presentation software.
-Universally compatible (documents can be saved and written as .doc, .xls, and .ppt)(18 of 22 people found this review useful)

Way to go, Apple! 4/5 stars
Written by CH from Grand Rapids

This is truly a great software bundle. Unlike MS Office, this series of apps is intuitive and logical (like OS X). Projects done in Keynote or pages are much more professional looking and very inspiring. Well worth the price.
However, users seeking the power of Excel in Numbers will not find it there. While the interface is really nice and the features it does have are better and easier to use, it still lacks certain important features that I use in my spreadsheets such as linking, etc.
With that said, any student should look no farther than this app, as its features pertaining to projects are unsurpassed by MSOffice. However, hardcore Excel users should probably stick to MSOffice for now, or at least hang on to their older Excel app for major spreadsheet work. Do like I-- trash MSWord and Powerpoint and hold onto Excel 03.... believe me, it's the way to go.
Ultimately, this app rocks. But, I hope Apple (in its next release) will bring Numbers up to par with Excel.(28 of 32 people found this review useful)

I just got a MacBook Air and with it I bought iWork. It is so much better than the Microsoft Office I had on my PC and it is better than the Microsoft Office for Mac (I know this because i have seen MS Office in other Macs). It is so worth buying this!

Not bad, except for one serious issue.
Written by MK from Montvale

iWork is a fine package of applications, save for one problem.
These applications suffer from an exasperating file format issue. Pages, for example, tries to convert everything into .pages format; to save your document in anything else (even if the file you opened was originally in a different format, such as .doc), you MUST choose Save As. If you simply Save, it will be saved as .pages by default. There is no option to change this in Preferences. Moreover, even if you choose Save As, the only option available other than .pages is .doc. To use a different file format such as .rtf or .txt, you need to Export, which is a huge hassle.
This is a serious problem because most people (e.g. professors) DON'T want to receive your work in .pages format. Same goes for Keynote and Numbers since Powerpoint and Excel are much more widely distributed. iWork needs a "preserve initial file format when saving" option in Preferences, as well as the ability to save in different formats without Exporting. Being able to save in .docx would be nice, too.(4 of 6 people found this review useful)

Buying in
Written by TF from tempe

I decided to buy into iWork, that I've put off for awhile. This is quite a robust application now especially with Number and new features. Keynote with new transitions like 'twist' really make the presentation stand out as professional quality as something you would see in tv commercials or Hollywood movies. It is amazing that this technology is now available to the average consumer. Builds give tremendous flexibility to tailor the styling of your slides. The 'Magic Move' transition is quite amazing and adds dramatic effect between slides with just a few clicks of the mouse. I recommend some type of reference book or tutorials to fully explore all the options of this suite. I find one of the greatest advantage of buying iWork over other Office applications is compatibility with other Apple software such as iPhoto, QuickTime and Aperture. I didn't understand Apple's long term goal with OS X, but now I do. It's just the tip of the iceberg to see all these applications like iPhoto and iWork come together harmonious to provide 'lifestyle' applications.
