    Parallels 4.0 :(

Awful! Using brand new macbook pro with SSD and top RAM/processor. Parallels desktop installs fine, but that is all. Parallels tools will not install and when I try to configure my existing boot camp XP partition for use with parallels it tells me to manually configure it with a link to their website for instruction, but no help there whatsoever. In addition, phone support is unavailable unless you pay $30 off the bat, bringing the cost to more than $100 for it. Get VMWare Fusion, do yourself a favor. I am abandoning Parallels and eating the extra $40. Shame on you, Nova Development! I will be asking for my 90-day refund.

Works perfectly for Windows Vista and Office 2007 virtualization

I purchased my first Mac (MacBook Pro) and the Parallels Desktop 4.0 software all at the same time. Installation of PD 4.0 went perfect with my official Vista CD. After this I installed MS Office Professional 2007. All works great including MS Outlook (even though I'm hooked to iMail now). I used Skype in Windows without issues but now running the Mac version of it. More and more popular software becomes available for the Mac and makes the MS Windows dependency less. For now PD 4.0 works perfectly for my use of MS Windows and its software and especially in the 'Coherence' mode it's enormously powerful between the two OS's although I'm getting more and more 'addicted' to the Mac OS X.

I love my mac, but this is the most ridiculous program. Yes it works, sometimes, but plan on spending sometime at the mac store. A LOT OF TIME.

This is an intuitive peace of art. The integration between MS and APPLE is well done. I use this for testing website in a windows like enviroment and for that its good, but one small drawback. I have a fully packed MAC BOOK PRO 4GB 2,5GHZ 7200 200GB disk and even then running windows and heavy apps is not that admirable. Its simply to slow.

    Stay away from this one!

Don't be fooled by the positive reviews of earlier versions. This one's a dud. Released with all kinds of bugs, it's impossible to install and if it does, runs very SLOW and crashes constantly.
Apple should truly remove this from the store until they fix it.
I was happy with version 2 & 3 and spent 6 hours trying to upgrade. When it finally ran it was a major disappointment. I'm requesting a refund and re-installing version 3.
Make sure you backup and save a copy of your current virtual machine. Once this puppy converts your stuff, it's over...you'll need to reinstall windows and everything on it.

    Parallels is not seamless

Crashes all the time. I have had to a complete reinstall of the Parallels desktop, Windows, and all my software 3 times now because for one reason or another it just doesnt seem to like some software and will lock up (permanently). A friend of mine had the same problem and switched to Fusion and said he has not had any problems with it. I'm going to give Fusion a try too.

Biggest waste of time - drags computer to a halt EVERY TIME

I do not understand how this software gets good reviews. If you look online you will see EVERYONE complaining about this product. It is criminal in fact that they charge money for it. Usually once you get past the nightmare of upgrading, you find that for 10 minutes it works fast and then sure enough, your computer slows down to snail speed. It really is the most frustrating piece of software in the world...I cannot tell you how bad it is in terms of speed.
Please don't trust good reviews on here they are probably paid for by Parallels. Go look on google and you will see how much people hate this pathetic excuse for virtualization software.
Oh and don't think that v 3.0 being good implies v 4.0 is better. It isn't - it is A LOT WORSE.

    Very disappointed.

I've used versions 2, 3, and now 4 of this software to run multiple windows installs on my Mac laptops: my windows use is light, and this product has been a breeze to use for the last 3ish years. One email to support the other day which resulted in re-installing (odd concept) the Tools handled the only issue I've had with it. Do note, side by side w/ desktop pcs this boots windows considerably faster :-)

Loses internet connection and printer very easily

I have been using Parallels for nearly two years. It is becoming more difficult to use, even before the bugs in Parallels 4.0 appeared. I cannot connect to the internet at the moment, though it is working OK on my Mac. Kaspersky cannot update because of this. While trying to rectify this, the printer refused to share with my Mac. Bonjour took a holiday. Coherence turns itself on frequently, by itself.
I have to use Parallels because one of my programs will only work on a PC. I am thinking of going back to a PC full time and giving up my Mac. Parallels wastes so much time and I cannot find anything in" help" to put things right.
