Overview

Apple Remote with iPod

If you connect your iPod to a home stereo, powered speakers or TV set, the Apple Remote lets you experience your songs, slideshows and more from across the room. Just plug your iPod into the Universal Dock and choose a playlist, slideshow or video. Then, sit back, relax and enjoy. Ready to move on to the next song? No need to get up from your sofa--just press the forward button on the Apple Remote. Phone ringing? Just click pause, then pick up where you left off.

The Apple Remote offers play/pause, volume control and forward/back buttons.

The Apple Remote requires the iPod Universal Dock and any iPod with a Dock connector.

Apple Remote with Mac

The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It combines with Front Row — a menu-driven, full-screen interface — to make accessing your Mac's digital bounty from any seat in the room as simple as navigating your iPod. When you click the Apple Remote's Menu button, your desktop fades and Front Row's sleek interface takes its place to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Movies folder and whatever DVDs you want to play. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slideshow, a home movie you made in iMovie, even a movie trailer. Just sit back and enjoy the show.

Does exactly what it says it on the box, works perfectly, never had any problems with it. Great Product.

I've got 2 of them for my iMac and my Apple TV. Both used to control the iMac and Apple Tv and this was indeed annoying. But problRead moreem was solved by pairing/unpairing them from iMac/Apple Tv, very easy job (in system preferences>security). No more interference whatsoever.

    Good but...

This is the cutest Mac accessory ever.
    Tiny and gorgeous.
It works great with Front View and iTunes and... that's all.

I bought iRead moret because I thought it would work with web content (ie: browser enabled media like when watching something on the BBC iplayer) but it doesn't.

Still, it's not a bad buy.

You definitely need it if you're watching dvds on your macbook.

Seriously good. I bought one just yesterday and am already using it at school. While doing homework, there is no need to get up, uRead morenlock the iPod, swirl the wheel and find your song. You just pick up the control and choose from you seat. Seriously good piece of kit.

Don't even bother if it's for use with an iPod.

Ordered this recently. It does manage to move tracks forward and backwards, stop, play and alter volume BUT the menu button has NORead more function for the iPod.

That means if you want to change album then you have to get up walk across the room, manually alter the iPod before moving back to where you were originally where at least you can skip tracks with the remote.

In many ways this renders the iPod (in terms of a remote control device) as inferior to my rather aging CD player... at least I can change album on that at the touch of a remote.

Disappointing and not clear on the website that the menu button does nothing. I would return it as unwanted but that would sting me a further £20 in P&P.

So in short if you have an iPod and want a remote control then ask yourself if it's worth spending the money to not be able to use the menu button at all. I personally don't.

well it steps to the next track

which for me is about all. At the moment I think I wasted £19 on this. The menu button does nothing, and this is a major omission Read moreto me. All I can do is step to the next/previous track or pause/play. It may work ok if you have the new iMac but it's not a real remote for the iPod. You really have to organise your playlists to make use of it.
