Editing and effects pipeline integration.

Now the leading film visual effects software can be combined with the world's leading non-linear editing software for a powerful editing and effects integrated pipeline. Cuts and layers from the Final Cut Pro 5 timeline can automatically create a Shake node tree. Shake 4 will automatically launch from the Final Cut Pro 5 timeline, reducing the need to recreate the edits and layers in Shake from scratch.

Unified 2D/3D compositing.

Shake 4 lets you composite live action and 3D CGI layers with more realism using the new OpenGL-accelerated 3D multi-plane compositing node. 3D compositing is seamlessly integrated into the node view to work with the same flexible user interface as every other operation. You can combine full 32-bit float Keylight and Primatte keyers, vector-based paint and rotoshapes with tracking along with 3D animated cameras; or import your camera animation from a Maya-compatible camera data file.

Advanced image processing technology.

Shake 4 leads the way in integrating the latest image processing technology into a single visual effects package. No other visual effects software delivers a complete set of tools including shape-based morphing and warping and advanced Optical Flow technology. Optical Flow algorithms use pixel-by-pixel image analysis to create smooth retiming, incredible high-quality resizing and automatic stabilization.

    Hold on tight Lucas!!!

This is the best video editing software that I have ever seen... especially for the price. Those of you who dont now, this softwarRead moree used to sell for 4999$ and now its going for 499$. WOW, what a price drop. Also the product is loaded with features, it basically can do everything that photoshop can but for video editing and more. I cant say that this software is from 2012 because it is getting old but I can say that it is a parsec away from the competition. (1 parsec = 3.26 light years =3.08568025 × 10^16 meters)...
    That is big!!!!

When you click on the software bar in the Mac section of the website, and select Shake, it says the software is available from AppRead morele Pro resellers for $4999, not $499. You might want to correct that, Apple! But otherwise, I'm really like the product. Though $499 is a little steep for a lot of people, it's definitely worth it. Go Apple!

    SHAKE Up Your Digital Video

I am the Program Director of Media Arts at Mesa Community College (Arizona). I have been teaching Apple SHAKE for the last year.Read more I was excited to read about the release of SHAKE 4.1 and that there is now academic pricing! Now the students can purchase the software and perfect their skills at home.

What sorts of things does SHAKE do? It's an incredible program. One of my favorite uses is for stabilization and match moves. Bouncy, shaky footage becomes rock solid with a few keystrokes in Shake. Of course, Shake is amazing for any sort of compositing and green-screening. The color correction and enhancement features are very powerful!

I also teach Maya (3D Animation software). Skill with Shake and Maya allow for the creation of very sophisticated film projects. At the Sundance Film Festival, I've seen several short films made using these two tools. While the interface is a bit complicated (although very similar to Maya), it's worth the effort. I strongly recommend.

Heading to the Apple Store Now

    Written by DJ from Dallas

I have worked in broadcast design for more than 18 years, on just about every editing and design system including CMX, Avid, AdobeRead more, Quantel, Discreet and now Apple. What is truely astounding is the improved software quality and reduction in cost. Less than 10 years ago I would have easily needed a half million dollars, or more, to setup a studio to produce professional broadcast design. But thanks to Apple the cost of the hardware and now the software has reached the point where an individual designer can have as much production power as a Hollywood studio for a fraction of the cost. Shake was the final link in the production chain I needed.

    Thanks Apple!!
