    Great film once again

    Written by JW from Lexington

Basically the same thing as the original iPhone version, completely fingerprint-proof, yet it isn't as clear as the Crystal Film version.

I found it incredibly easy to install by wetting the film before applying, and ended up with no air bubbles at all.

The only downside to the film, as some reviewers stated in the Crystal Film, is that it is a little less than 1mm too short on all sides so it doesn't fully cover the front side, but I haven't found that too be too much of an issue yet.

    Perfect!

I bought this product for my original iPhone, and a year later it still looks "like new". So I'm happy to report that the new anti-glare film for the iPhone 3G seems to be identical ... Power Support knew better than to tamper with perfection.

The key to using this product is to wipe your iPhone with a clean damp cloth then a clean dry cloth (not a paper towel) before applying the film.

Have two pieces of Scotch tape handy when you apply the film ... one to lift the corner of the film and another to gently remove a stray piece of dust from the iPhone, if necessary.

Thinking about it? Just get it!

I wasn't going to get this film until an Apple employee showed me his iPhone. I got it and it's great.
The film is slightly textured to give good feel.
    Absolutely no smudges or fingerprints.
Film is very thick, giving protection piece of mind
Absolutely no loss of touch screen sensitivity.
It does "gray" or dull the screen very very slightly. But, it's only noticeable the first 30 mins after it's on; then, you forget about it.

    Crystal vs Anti-Glare - DEPENDS

    Written by GH from Fresno

    Jan 9, 2009

ok for all you debating whether or not to go crystal or anti-glare, I will try and shed some light on the differences and describe…Read more who will benefit from each. I have owned and used both and I like them for different reasons. But to be honest, the Crystal Film fits me better than anti-glare.

Note: I also wrote this same review for the Crystal Film as well. I personally like the Crystal better, but there is nothing wrong with the Anti-glare film. It just doesn't suit my OCD tendencies and analness about image quality. I am still giving this product 5 stars because it will be PERFECT for many, if not most, users out there.

I am pretty sure both protect equally well, so there are 2 main focuses I will focus on: LOOK and FEEL.

    1. Look:
Crystal - your iPhone will look EXACTLY like the way it came. In fact you will probably not be able to tell you have a protective screen at all. Colors are 100% perfect and there is no difference in contrast or brightness with the cover on. However, JUST like not having a screen you will get finger prints. It probably minimizes fingerprints a small amount, but you will definitely have fingerprints and that smeared look just about all the time. Of course you have to kind of look at it at an angle in the right light to see it, but they are there. And just like not having a cover, the iPhone is almost like a mirror when turned off.

Anti-glare - looks good, but NOT 100% perfect. You will notice a slight haziness to the coloring. If you tilt your phone in the light you can see that it clearly has some type of screen cover on. You don't get the mirror effect. It has a matte finish to it so it is obvious it is there but that is why it doesn't reflect any light. That matt textured look is also what causes that very slight foggyness. For instance if you look at the SMS text message icon, the SMS letters will have a little blur and the details of the lines in that icon aren't crisp. It isn't bad, but if you look for it you can see it. However, MOST people, probably 90% of iPhone users will barely notice it and not really care. BUT if you are like me, highly nerdy and using your iPhone hours upon hours a day you will notice it. Especially if you are into graphics arts/design or photography you will especially notice it and be bothered that it isn't perfect. If you have a detailed eye and can notice slight differences in picture between flat screen TVs showing HD material, you are the type of person that will be bothered by this. If you can barely tell the difference between Standard TV and HDTV, you probably won't ever see a difference in this screen.

    2. FEEL
Crystal - feels 100% like not having a screen. It has that glassy feel. If you lightly glide your finger across the screen it will feel smooth and light. You will pretty much not feel anything different than without a screen protector.

Anit-glare - feels very different than normal. It feels like rubbing hard plastic as opposed to glass. There is almost a slight roughness to it that never gets that glassy friction feel without having a screen cover. Imagine running your finger across a dashboard in a car. It has that textured hard plastic feel. It feels good, but it is different from the glass feeling. It is a toss up to what feels better. You will most likely be fine with either.

BOTTOM LINE: both fit very well and are easy to apply. Both seem like they will protect the iPhone from general pockets scratches. If fingerprints annoy you and you are always in the sun with too much reflection, the Anti-glare will probably be better. If you are a hardcore purist and need 100% natural feel and look but with added protection than the Crystal is for you.

Easy to apply, no appreciable difference to image, just brilliant.

I absolutely love this product! You don’t even notice it’s there, you only notice that the finger prints aren’t and that you can actually see the display in sunlight instead of a reflection.
I must comment on the review that says it’s difficult to apply…
    It is SO EASY.
If you clean it really thoroughly like the instructions say to, and use the pre application dust removal film, like the instructions say to, and then gently lay the anti glare film on, while in an area free of dust, like the instr... (you get the idea) You’d have to be seriously uncoordinated or a true moron in order to mess it up. And even if you really can’t manage do it, the pack also states that the films are removable and reusable, so there’s no need to throw them away or “waste a tenner”, just peel it off and let a grown up help you. It really is easy, I managed to apply mine in just a few seconds, really, no dust no air bubbles.
And to those of you shying away from thi because “it makes the screen blurry” I hav to say that is a massive overstatement, it’s not like you’ve smeared it with Vaseline. It’s true the matt finish does make a difference to the picture quality... it gets rid of finger smears! And it is great at that. You'll only see the SLIGHTLY blurry edges if you're looking at a static photo, you would never notice watching an animation. I play Enigmo with it on (lots of little droplets) and there is no difference at all.

This is a great product and it is well worth the money.

Works great, but don't like the grainy-ness

Written by BW from SAINT PETERSBURG

I went ahead and gave this product 4 stars because it works great and it makes me sleep easier at night. I'm not one to really baby my devices (I bought it to be used!), but at the same time, I want them to be protected. I picked up this anti-glare screen protector from the Apple Store the day after I got my iPhone. It was easy to install and it is very easy to remove. Unfortunately, the anti-glare just isn't for me. I can't stand the grainy-ness it adds to the picture of the phone. You can't really notice it when you are looking at dark colors, but when you have an app open that has a light (especially white) background, it was just too difficult for me to ignore. I originally got this one to avoid the fingerprint and oil smudges, but I find that the image due to the anti-glare is just as bad as the finger prints and I can't rub it off. So if you don't mind the way that it distorts the image, go with the anti-glare. If you think that will bother you, go with the crystal version. Either way though, it is nearly impossible to tell that you have it on and it has kept my iPhone scratch free.

    Saved my iPhone

I second everything everyone else has said.

What I will add, however, is that this screen really is heavy-duty and up for the challenge of day-to-day bumps, scrapes, and bruises.

Getting out of an airplane the other day (I'm a pilot), my dropped my aviation headset on the glass. To my horror and dismay, there was a noticeable chip on the surface (more aesthetic than functional, but still disappointing).

Looking at the chip and feeling it was enough to tell me that some damage had been done. But I still took it upon myself to peel back the screen protector to...wait, where'd the chip go?

    Glass was fine!

The force of the impact was wholly absorbed by the screen protector, and what could have easily been a $200 repair is now only a $15 pack of protectors. They're extremely thick, reliable, and idiot-proof.

    Don't leave home without it.

I know why two are included

    Written by LL from Oceanside

Great item but I know why they sell you two at a time - it takes at least one attempt to realize how important it is to make sure the screen is completely clean. Just a small piece of dust leaves a bubble under the film and stuck to the bottom of the film leaving it unusable.

The display does become a bit grainy once you add the film but the anti-glare and the films ability to reduce finger smudges is well worth it.

    the one and only

as the title says..."The one and only." This is the best thing you can do for your iPhone. the AntiGlare does not get scratched up as easily as the glossy and during the day this does come in very handy. I have bought one for both my iPhones and have loved them both. This is one of...if not the best little product for your iPhone...

Perfect - exactly what I was looking for

I can't understand why anyone wouldn't give this product 5 stars. If you find it too grainy, get the Crystal film set.
I personally like the grainy look. It makes the touch screen more tactile, and less susceptible to fingerprints. The anti-glare property makes it much easier to see in the car.
Anyone who can't fit it properly is an imbecile. If I managed to do it, anyone can!
