Nike Sport Armband for iPod nano
Total failure
Written by RT from Doral

I am sorry to say that, but this armband is a failure. I've been a VERY loyal user of Nike armbands since Nano 2nd gen. I had always loved the "no loop" design with a smooth, elastic material that will both fit nicely and not strangulate your arm. I didn't think twice before getting the Nike armband along with my new Nano. When I opened the box and saw the plastic loop I was a little bit skeptical, but what the heck, it is the Nike armband, it couldn't be that bad!
Unfortunately, it is THAT bad. Main reasons are:
1 - The plastic loop. It will invariably pinch your arm when you try to adjust the armband. Not nice.
2 - The fabric is not elastic or at least not as elastic as on previous designs. This translates into a stiff armband strangulating your arm. Not a good idea to block your arm's blood flow when doing physical activities.
3 - Nike + iPod receiver - It doesn't have a place for the receiver. The bottom part of the receiver will stay in contact with your skin. And it kind of has sharp edges and will annoy you during a long run. I got a slight bruise from the friction on my last long-ish run of around 15km.
4 - Hard to remove from the armband - It is hard to remove the Nano from the armband. You have to squeeze it on the top part of the pouch, i.e., on the translucent plastic part. This will dent the plastic and may scratch your new Nano's screen.
5 - Hard to plug headphones when the Nano is inserted. Although there is no special space for the Nike receiver, the pouch is a little deeper than the Nano's height. Then it becomes kind of hard to plug headphones to the unit when it is already inserted.
Sorry Nike, this armband is a failure. Please come up with a replacement similar to the successful previous designs.(435 of 484 people found this review useful)

Good but too small...

Conceptually I really like this armband. Nike also fixed the problem I had with the 3g armband letting sweat get inside the case, so from a technical perspective they are 50% better than the 3g armband. (Actually they fixed the sweating issue on the 3g armband too but didn't tell anyone.)
One great feature of this armband that's tough to find on others, is the tight fit of the plastic window and the raised menu button. It makes it so much easier to find the dial and because it fits so tight it makes it very easy to change volume. It also makes it less likely you'll accidently change the volume when trying to press the menu button to check your progress.
However, where they missed big is on the size of the armband, and the reason I can only give this product 4 stars. I have what I consider "normal" size arms for someone 5'11" and not overweight. I can barely get it on. It's very uncomfortable right now, one more inch and I'd be fine. This case is nowhere as flexible as the 3g case, but I'm hoping that it will change over time.(212 of 240 people found this review useful)

Complete Failure
Written by JC from Toronto

I purchased this product from a Nike store in Canada. When I went to buy it, not only did it take them 15 minutes to figure out what it was, but they tried to over charge me!
The next morning, when I went to go for a run, I tried to put the nano in, and get going. Even without the receiver, I worked up a sweat trying to get the nano inside the armband. I realized that it needed to be stretched out for it to fit, so this problem should go away over time.
And while the material has a great feel, the stretching capacity of the band is less then impressive. I am 15 years old, and i go to the gym about 90 minutes a week, mostly focussing on my legs for hockey. I by no means have large arms, but I am at the edge of the band on my biceps, but too loose on my forearm.
I have had numerous problems with my Nike+, which I was initially very excited over, and Nike has been absolutely awful throughout this whole process. I wish that Apple would step in, and have Nike conform to THEIR code of conduct when it comes to dealing with the consumer. Apple was great and very helpful. Nike, you can learn from Apple a great deal.(224 of 290 people found this review useful)

So many bad points...
Written by JE from Norwich

Ok. This is really rubbish. (in my opinion)
1/Cover scratches within seconds (leaving your possibility of money back instantly stuffed)
2/Even my tiny biceps were too big for this
3/It's uncomfortable and itchy even if you can find a place to wear (no laughing in the back)
4/ No access to keypad lock
5/ The cheap scratchy plastic cover is too thick to allow control use.
Who designs this rot? Hang your head in shame.(93 of 98 people found this review useful)

Think someone should point out the good points!

I looked at all the 4g nano cases and the nike+ is easily the best of a bad bunch.
I don't know about anybody else, but I run so much that I tend to get the odd rain shower from time to time, but surprisingly not one case offered a fully waterproof solution.
I was nearly put off by all the negative comments about this one, but as I had a voucher to use I was going to buy a case anyway. I took it out on a 19 miler, and was pleasantly surprised.
So some pointers:-
1) This seems to be the only nano sport case that also fits the nike+ receiver
2) The Nike+ one will definitely be enough to keep the nano protected through the odd rain shower, but I wouldn't bank on it for any torrential downpours.
3) Observing some of the other comments, I was more careful about putting mine in to the case. No problems or scratches.
4) I'm 12 stone and 6ft tall and my arm fits fine into the strap. There would be plenty of room left if I put on a stone or two too.
5) No, there is no access to the hold button, but as it's at the top it figures that it has to be protected from rain. It didn't prove a problem on my run though, because it was on my arm, I wasn't going to hit any buttons by mistake anyway.
6) Personally I found the controls worked fine through the plastic. The dexterity wouldn't be the same as if the nano was outside the case, but obviously there is a trade off with trying to protect it.
Hope that gives another side to this argument!(86 of 88 people found this review useful)

disappointed...

Purchased this arm band case for my ipod nano due to fact like to run with nike +. The ipod is very difficult to get into and out of the case and normally results in the clear screen getting damaged.
Also the arm band is not very long so any one with a large upper arm will not be able to wear this arm band.
To sum up... for a nike case ... very disappointed and waste of money!!!(85 of 91 people found this review useful)

Nike Sport Armband for iPod nano
A strong improvement, but with minor issues
Written by BF from Palo Alto

I don't agree with the negative reviews here. This armband is a strong improvement over the last gen Nike armband.
I run a massive amount, 7 miles a day, and I go through these armbands quickly. This update seems to address my two biggest complaints. First of all, the material doesn't absorb as much sweat - which means it doesn't get as stinky. The old armbands would get highly funky after a few weeks of use.
Secondly, the velcro seems to be sewn in much tighter to this armband. After a few months of use the velcro of the old armband would separate, meaning I'd have to sew it back in. I don't see this happening with this model.
As far as the complaints, I do agree that the new design pinches the arm a bit when you're adjusting it. This is unfortunate, but I quickly learned to do this gently so it doesn't pinch the skin.
As far as the armband being too small, I entirely disagree. I have super skinny girl arms, but there's plenty of room for guys to wear this too. I think the only person that would have trouble with this might be someone getting into shape at first. There are SO MANY armbands I've bought with miles of annoying extra strap - so go get one of those.
Overall, I'd give this armband a perfect score for distance runners. It holds the iPod super tight, is very light, and doesn't absorb as much sweat. Great joke, Nike!

SO many problems
Written by BA from Berkeley

First the Armband looks pretty cool and neat. It fits really well with my Arm.
However, the biggest problem is getting the iPod in and Out. It was so hard to put the ipod though a narrow, tight space. The hardest part was taking it out.
THe ipod was so constricted that it took me like 10 minutes taking it out trying to not destroy my iPod nor the armband. I took it out, but now i don't want to put it back in.
Seriously they should fix that issue.(58 of 66 people found this review useful)

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU ARE NOT THIN!
I work out but am not that big of a guy. This armband does not even fit around my arm! If you have arms bigger than 15" this will not fit you.
Must have been designed by waify fashion people : (

THIS IS A GREAT ARMBAND!
Written by KB from Mattapoisett

this arm band is great for working out, running, and lifting. i find that with other armbands the band moves along my arm but with the wide strap of the nike armband that is no longer a problem. it stays right in place but becomes larger as my arms flex and recesses when my arm relaxes
the scrolling is amazing and most of the time i forget that their is plastic covering my ipod. also, to fit the ipod into the case all you have to do is slightly angle it in and stretch the top slightly, then the ipod settles right in. during my workouts the ipod never slides around or shifts out of place. and i can tell that it is well protected in the case. taking it out is not a big problem and i find that it takes the same level of difficulty for all other arm bands (i have tried 6 other brands for the ipod 4th generation and nike is the first one to work properly)
the ipod always comes out dry and sweat free witch is very important and although many other brands claim to do the same thing, none of them actually accomplish keeping the ipod dry other than nike.
this new arm band is worth the money, it is comfortable and protects the ipod without scratching it. I highly recommend it.(56 of 71 people found this review useful)
