- (1) Wireless Internet access requires a wireless-enabled computer, a base station or other access point, and Internet access; fees may apply. Some ISPs are not currently compatible with Time Capsule.
- (2) Time Capsule is based on an IEEE 802.11n draft specification and is compatible with IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, and IEEE 802.11g. Performance is based on a comparison with Apple's 802.11g products. Comparison assumes Time Capsule-based network with 802.11n-enabled computer. Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network. Accessing the wireless network requires an AirPort or AirPort Extreme enabled computer or other Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a/b/g-enabled computer. Actual performance will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network, and other factors. Range will vary with site conditions.

Time Capsule is a MUST

This is easily one of Apple's best products ever. The setup is easy (follow the instructions!) and once it is setup you never hav…Read moree to worry about it again. I've never seen a wireless router/storage device perform as well as this does. If you have a Mac and are want to have a backup for your files, use this product. I'm a former PC user, and after switching to Mac and finding products like these, I am an Apple user for life.

I saw a few harsh reviews on the Time Capsule and was a little hesitant to buy it...but am glad I did. I first installed TC on a …Read moreWindows Vista system. Worked just fine and had no complaints. I recently purchased a Macbook Pro and now run TC using the wireless connection and it also works fine. Other reviewers are correct that when using the Time Machine function on a Mac the first backup is slow over the wireless connection. I just used the ethernet connection for the first backup. Not really that big of a deal. If I had to do it over again I would purchase another TC. I really like having a large backup drive and wireless router in one package.

This product is very simple and easy to use. The initial backup does take some time, but it does go faster if you use an ethernet …Read morecable instead of going wireless. After the initial backup, everything is much faster. Overall, the product is great. The wireless 802.11n has great speed and range, and the 500 GB is plenty of space for backups. Also, the USB port for a printer is a great feature. I highly recommend using this product.

Time Capsule, not quite up to Apple standard.

For the most part time capsule is easy to use and setup. Airport utility is simple and quick to use. Now for the the disappointing…Read more aspect. The speed and strength of signal is not quite as good as other wireless N routers. The base station also gets really hot. Make sure you keep it in a well ventilated area. There is also a glitch with Time Machine. The first time Time Machine backed up my hard drive it worked perfectly. Since then though, randomly, but frequently, when it starts an hourly back it will freeze my Mac Book. Which is the one of the main things I wanted to avoid when switching to MAC a couple of years ago. Lastly, the wifi tends to drop at random times requiring a reboot (not the pushing of the reset button on the back, but actually unplugging the station) of the router.

Switching to Time Capsule has greatly improved the signal quality of my wi-fi network (I was using a rental "gateway" from the cab…Read morele company). I have a full five bars all the time, and no drops from the network. The automatic backing up of both my laptop and my son's desktop (using Time Machine) is wonderful. In addition, I have moved a substantial audio library off of my laptop and onto Time Capsule, freeing up a big chunk of my laptop's hard drive. This device is exactly what I needed.
