STM Medium Alley Shoulder Bag
Definitely too big...
Written by EL from Oakland

I've owned the Small Alley for quite awhile now, and am totally in love with it. However after getting a Macbook Pro recently I found that it didn't fit, but only by an inch of so length wise, width it fits perfectly. The flap is able to close, but barely, as the laptop pokes out about and inch - inch and a half. Anything else in the bag beyond the power adapter and a magazine and it doesn't work. After a couple months of using it like this the velcro has started to wear out as well.
Should have read the dimensions of this one a bit, it has a HUGE amount of space on either side of the laptop, and just feels bulky in general. They must have been ensuring those Dell "desktop replacements" could fit inside.
STM, how about making the Small Alley just a tad taller?(38 of 60 people found this review useful)

STM Medium Alley Shoulder Bag
Not that great...

I bought this bag as a smaller, more portable alternative to my Crumpler bag. I wanted to like it as much as my Crumpler, but then again, it's half the price.
Pros:
-Good color scheme
-Good overall size
-Vertical orientation
Cons:
-Laptop compartment is too big
-Rain could get into the laptop compartment (this is absurd)
-The shoulder strap is too cheap/thin so it constantly roles up and gets twisted
-Shoulder pad is cheap and also roles up and twists around the too thin shoulder strap
-Handle on top is coated in rubber that is way too tacky, so it grabs your shirt and gets all twisted up (I had to cut mine off)
-No dedicated pockets for pens or pencils
-Nylon feels cheap(58 of 71 people found this review useful)

STM Medium Alley Shoulder Bag
Not a typical laptop bag

I use this bag for uni and it has just enough room for my uni stuff (i.e lecture notes, pencil case etc) and ofcourse my MBP. It looks nice enough to look like just a casual bad and not a ugly typical laptop bag to say "look everyone I'm carrying a laptop".

STM Medium Alley Shoulder Bag
Warning!!!! Rain gets into laptop compartment!!

Fashionable and small -- the bag has a fatal flaw. Returned it immediately.
While you can't see it well in the photos, there is about a half inch open on each side of the TOP of this bag where the flap folds over. This opening goes DIRECTLY into the laptop portion of this bag -- IF IT RAINS WATER GOES DIRECTLY INTO THE LAPTOP COMPARTMENT
Do not get this bag if you live where there is rain, snow, or heavy dust. Apparently they don't have any of those problems in Australia where the bag was designed.(82 of 101 people found this review useful)

STM Medium Alley Shoulder Bag
Plenty of room in this bag

Space for cables as well as my macbook and ipod etc. was what I was looking for in a bag. I also wanted there to be a handle rather than a long strap. Well, this bag has plenty of room for my macbook and cables and it does have the handle too which is great. It's also nice and neat - apart from the long shoulder strap which I hate. I was hoping the strap would fit back into the bag and only have the handle outside, but unfortunately the links aren't long enough for the strap to go back into the bag. So the long strap is always in the way. The front flap is very light but I'd have liked if it had been a little more padded and stiffer- not for protection of the computer so much (as there is enough padding in the section for the computer,) but for protection of ipod, phone etc in front pouch and also just because I'd just prefer it personally.
Also, I don't actually like the velcro fastenings as they make a lot of noise when opening it, and as I use mine late at night, everyone in the house now knows when I'm about to use it! I would have much preferred clips. Oh, and the colour in reality is much darker than the picture on the website. The Carbon colour is actually almost black in colour. All said and done, it is a nice handy, roomy bag(1 of 1 people found this review useful)

I had hesitate to buy that bag for my macbook pro 15 po. because I had read in a review it was too much place and the laptop is moving.
Finally, I bought it and I'm happy with it. I don't think the compartment is that large. Unless you run a marathon with it, the computer won't move that much. I don't feel it's moving.
I like it + it looks cool.

STM Medium Alley Shoulder Bag
A bit uncomfortable
Written by CD from Chicago

I use this as my briefcase, and the bag fits the computer well, with space for most of the items I want to carry around, but the 15" MacBook Pro is heavy, and I can't find a comfortable way to carry this bag without placing such a strain on my back. I'm tall & lanky and walk quite a bit. I'm not terribly fond of the noisy velcro fasteners, but it's an okay bag. I think I need to trade this in for a backpack.

I really like this bag I think it is way cool. I am using it for my macbook and my school books. there is not enough room for all my books when the computer is in it but I will order another one, (chuckle) I think its a great bag looks good not like the other bags
I highly recomend it.(7 of 10 people found this review useful)

STM Medium Alley Shoulder Bag
Waaaay too big for me!

Bought this bag from another vendor and should have read the reviews here first. The bag is far too big for my 15" PowerBook ... at least for my liking. It is very well made and has fantastic options for the dollar, however, its just far too wide. I'd like to know if the Small Alley would be a better fit ... will the outer flap close?

STM Medium Alley Shoulder Bag
disappointing

I was excited to purchase this bag for my 15.4" MacBook Pro because my sister had the smaller version for her 13" and absolutly loves it. However I got it and knew with in minutes that I would have to return it. The compartment for the computer is much too large. For my sleek and slim laptop is nothing like a good fit. It is good construction, nice look, but if it's for a MacBook Pro it's not gonna be secured.
