Overview

The new MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air each have a Mini DisplayPort that allows you to connect an external display or projector using an adapter. You can use an external display as your main workspace or to extend your desktop, or you can work in mirrored mode with a projector so you can view what your audience sees.

Use the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air to a standard analog monitor, projector, or LCD that uses a VGA connector or cable. Review the documentation or check with the manufacturer of your monitor to make sure you're choosing the right adapter.

Compatible only with MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air with Mini DisplayPort.

    SAMSUNG LCD TV OK

Bought the new macbook this year as well as this adapter and connect to my Samsung LCD TV and it works just fine. Once the MAC detRead moreects the LCD TV you're pretty much good to go. Go to System Pref , Display.....be patient wait for a few minutes until the MAC configures everything, go to the top menu of Display and check you optons.
You also need to configure the LCD TV , and make sure the PC connectivity is activated and that's it......all it takes is 15 to 20 minutes to figure it out....and it's all good.

    Works as advertised

This dongle worked as advertised. I picked up the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter for my new Apple Macbook (unibody) 2.0GHz machinRead moree, and connected it to two seperate Samsung 20" 206BW monitors, and both functioned fine over VGA. My reason for only using VGA was that both of the monitors are currently tied up in a dual-monitor setup through DVI to my PC, so this was easy to do and I could just click "Source" to move over to my Mac.

After reading all the reviews I was hesitant, but I figured i'd give it a try for the sake of hoping it would work, and it does (for now). If your only choice is VGA, this will likely work for you (fingers crossed).

    Doesn't work with Samsung TV

I'm very disappointed with this. I bought a new MacBook last week and got the VGA adapter so I could use it with my TV as I did myRead more old PowerBook G4 (via the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter). The new adapter worked fine when I connected it to an overhead projector, but it doesn't seem to send a readable signal to my Samsung LN40A650 television.

I tried booting in to Windows via Boot Camp and got the same result.

I guess I'll have to try the DVI adapter with a converter from DVI to HDMI to use this with my TV. A Mini DisplayPort to HDMI (or even regular DisplayPort, which can be directly converted without using audio) would be ideal, but there doesn't seem to be any sign of that.

    Disappointing

I can not get this thing to output to my Samsung LN-4042H 40 inch LCD. The old miniDVI to VGA worked no problem with my old MacBooRead morek. I have checked and it is not a TV problem, so certainly something hardware or driver related. Also $29.99 for a video dongle seems steep to me.

    Works perfectly

Output to my 22" Viewsonic is clear and crisp and setup with no effort. Seems to be of the same quality as the mini DVI to VGA adaRead morepter which I used everyday for a year with out incident on my old macbook. Should be priced in the 14.99 - 19.99 range.
