- (1) The AirPort Express Base Station is based on an IEEE 802.11n draft specification and is compatible with IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, and IEEE 802.11g.
- (2) Based on a comparison with Apple's 802.11g products. Comparison assumes AirPort Express network with 802.11n-enabled computer. Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network. Accessing the wireless network requires an AirPort- or AirPort Extreme-enabled computer or other Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a/b/g-enabled computer. Actual performance will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network, and other factors. Range will vary with site conditions.
- (3) Wireless Internet access requires a wireless-enabled computer, a base station or other access point, and Internet access (fees may apply). Some ISPs are not currently compatible with AirPort Express.

Good wireless range but no iPhone/iPod charging any more

The Airport Express is an excellent product overall, especially for use with iTunes.
I recently upgraded my router to Airport Ext…Read morereme and found out that my old Airport Express's no longer worked with extending the wireless network. A clever way to get users to upgreade i presume.
I bought a new Airport extreme to use with the 'n' network, but found out that the new units will not charge iPhones etc from the USB port any more. A feature that older units had. This makes the new unit it a little less usable, especially for travelling, as you need an iPhone charger aswell, not just a cable.
A good product over all, but sad to see the powered USB port has gone.(8 of 9 people found this review useful)

I bought my Airport Express this morning and having set it up, I can quite honestly say that it's amazing. I have a Bose Portable …Read moreunit and 8GB Nano and it's turned into a bit of a pain having to refill the Nano everytime I want to listen to a song that's not on it. Now I can just listen to it through the Airport! It's made my life so much easier. The setup is a dream...really easy and user friendly. The product itself is totally discrete and works perfectly. Really, Apple is absolutely amazing at product innovation and blows me away with every new product I buy. I'm talking my Mum into getting one as well. Well Done Apple!!!!!

Greatness in a little white box

Well worth the money! I bought this as a quick fix to extend the wireless network in the old house I live in. The problem I'd be…Read moreen having with my wireless router was that due to the density of the walls the wireless signal was not reaching all parts of the house, and so the only way of using the internet/network in some areas was via ethernet cable for each and every device that needed it. However, this little box has changed all that! I now have a single ethernet cable running into the Base Station, and this provides wireless coverage where I need it. It also is great for broadcasting music wirelessly to a stereo, which is a benefit as I use a MacBook Pro, and don't want potential trip hazards everywhere!
As for setting up the device, things couldn't be easier. It worked straight out of the box (although was an unsecured network), and once the software had been installed on my Mac and PC, I was able to set a WEP or WPA/WPA2 password to secure everything. It also works fine connecting with a PS3!
A light on the back of the Base Station displays different colours depending on the status of the device, and any problems can be sorted from the Apple software that you install on your Mac or PC. Broadcasting to your connected speakers is also simple, with a quick and easy change of settings in iTunes.
All in all an excellent piece of kit, with little to fault!(560 of 663 people found this review useful)

Airtunes will revolutionise the way we listen to music at home and can't understand why it's not standard on all Apple routers. Printed from the garden yesterday and we live on the upper ground floor of a central London apartment complex.
All I need to do now is find a way of getting it out of the sideboard and on display because it's a funky little bit of kit. Thanks Apple.(363 of 472 people found this review useful)
