Originally I had iWorks on my mac but many emailing systems wouldn't accept their attachments so i thought i would move onto Offic…Read moree. Seemed a good idea at the time as it is compatible with both macs and pc's but i still find myself going back to iWorks. Office is good is you need something simple and quick and you are used to using it, but if you want to be more creative then i actually recommend iWorks instead. Office tends to be very rigid but i do find it easier when writing in a foreign language. Also thought Office is slightly overpriced.

This product does have a few good things, for example when you install it, it can start up.
Bad sides, well 300 words isnt eno…Read moreugh so I'm going to simply say to buy iWork, even though iWork is far from perfect it is a lot better than this lousy product from Mircosoft. Since 90% of the time it crash's, or takes longer than it should to do something it just isnt worth it. Doesnt do what it promises either - kinda reminds me of Boris Johnson...(10 of 26 people found this review useful)

Buyer Beware.....

The first Excel workbook that I tried to open (written using MS Office 2000 for Windows) resulted in the following message - "This…Read more file contains Visual Basic macros. Visual Basic macros do not work in Office 2008 for Mac."
So treat with a little caution the wording on the Apple.com webpage for this particular product that says ".....so you can confidently share documents with friends and colleagues whatever system they're using."
The price of this software is very attractive (especially since it allows up to three Macs in a household to run the software simultaneously), but for me, because of the 'Visual Basic macro' problem, its back to my old Windows-based laptop!(1018 of 1245 people found this review useful)

An improvement

It's definitely better than previous versions of Office for Mac, and is arguably better than its Windows counterpart. However, I s…Read moretill find it very difficult to justify the cost for what you get, but if what you need is maximum Word/Excel/PowerPoint compatibility then Office 2008 is your only real option, as iWork, while great, still has some compatibility issues.
So, if you want it just to create nice documents, spreadsheets etc, then I'd recommend iWorks for the sheer value for money and ease-of-use. But if you need compatibility then 2008 is your best-bet. Microsoft are however showing that they can innovate and improve their software though, and Office 2008 is a definite step in the right direction.(707 of 879 people found this review useful)

Installation was easy enough, but since installing i have had so many problems!

Fonts have been messed up (not just in office but in other applications), and printers within quark now have issues.
I cannot comment on compatibly issues with previous versions (inc cross platform issues) as i cannot open any office documents.
Microsoft have a habit of making substandard software which requires several updates to make it fully functional.
I would suggest waiting until a major update is released until you install.
I have now removed it and returned my mac back to normal.(731 of 975 people found this review useful)
