Logic running on a new 8-core Mac Pro:
Logic is a great piece of software. Well, it used to be. Since the invention of the ipho…Read morene, i've noticed a distinct lack of interest from apple in their software (this is backed up by conversations with Final Cut Pro users..). This Logic is fine if you're going to use it at a base level. When you get into the more advanced options, you will find it extremely glitchy and frustrating. It has been about a year since i bought this now and there has NOT been 1 update. It's an absolute disgrace. I have loved logic for years, but now i'm so angry with this version, i'm thinking about completely learning a new software program. I am a professional music producer with number 1 hits and this is NO longer a professional music platform.(96 of 157 people found this review useful)

I'm making the switch

As a former big studio engineer, I never had an issue with Pro Tools...until I went freelance.
I had the clientelle, but I simpl…Read morey didn't have a "spare" $25,000 to invest into a full-blown Pro Tools HD rig. So I got my PowerMac G5, and an MBox.
Almost immediately, I began to hear comments on the thinness of the sound from my clients, and even complaints about the limited track count that LE had.
Something had to be done, and that's when I started researching.
Soon, I realized that for an investment of $2,500, I could buy the Logic Studio, Apogee Ensemble, integrate them into my existing G5 setup- and INSTANTLY have every bit the editing power, composing power, and sound quality that the $25,000 PT HD rigs have.
And for a bonus, I get surround mixing capabilities, the ability to copy protect my clients valuable work on CD, the notation programs, 192k/24bit resolution, 255 track count, and the virtual instruments and amp modelling programs??
Forget about it.
It took me half a second to decide. For the first time in a long while, my clients are excited again, because they'll get to have that major label sound, but in an intimate home envirnment where they dont have to pay an arm and a leg to get it.
Thanks Logic, I'm making the switch this month!(2785 of 3604 people found this review useful)

REPENT! the end of music is at hand
Written by DF from Berkeley

This is tooooo easy; now all those 5 year olds and "musicians" who became DJs a few years ago have all the skills necessary to bec…Read moreome "producers" of music good enough to make your girlfriend dump you. Apple is the new Idol, and here we present the shrink-wrapped souls of thousands, awaiting your command. If you deem yourself an innovator, you'd better think beyond the world of the senses, because this box makes "musical" innovation insignificant. Just as the federal reserve devalues our currency by putting more of it into circulation, apple has now decreased the value of music tenfold. The "musician" as recordist is now dead. Brave souls will resist this monster of manipulation and follow the only humanizing creed left for true musicians: Live Music Only, on instruments not requiring power consumption/electricity/oil/war/pollution. The weak, among whom I count myself, will spend their time alone in front of a computer screen, standing on the shoulders of giants, listening in awe to "what we've created," wasting resources getting our "creations" to the level of "broadcast quality" so we can become a bigger cog in the machine.
After 4 hours with this upgrade, without even looking at the books, my productivity has at least tripled. Screensets are OPTIMIZED, cubase/nuendo zooming has been incorporated, playlist comping from protools is new and IMPROVED, everything your intuition always got frustrated by is now fixed, and music moves almost as fast as thought. the only thing i haven't found yet is the capture last take as recording key command. I'm hoping they just changed the name. I'm also hoping its easy to make your own templates, or modify apple's cause the sampled brass still sounds like doodoo.
For the price of the upgrade, if you're using logic 6 or 7, you'd be a fool not to buy this. You will OBEY APPLE.(1806 of 2782 people found this review useful)

The Only Digital Audio Software!

It's like a dream come true.
I have been a Logic owner for some time now. Started with eMagic's Micro Logic, then Logic Gold 4…Read more.8. The manual alone was a nightmare.
Then Apple, in a stellar move, acquired it and made it what it was always meant to be: The supreme DAW. That was Logic 6 and 7.
But now? You can't believe this new Logic Studio! One cannot begin to describe how vast, how complete, how altogether encompassing and intuitive it is! Not to mention much easier on the mental faculties. It is what I have been wishing for all these years. And the price? Forget about it!
Apple continues to wow the masses with its innovation, quality and in your face value! I don't know how they do it, but I'm certainly glad they do.
Thanks Steve and Company for this fabulous gift. This IS the Logic I have been waiting for!
