But after a week or two, I got used to this new version of Apple's OS. I am stunned. This is a very good upgrade. Trust me, you won't regret it. If not for the features, you should get it because of compatibility's sake.

Tough to migrate from older Macs

    Written by DP from Portland

    Feb 4, 2009

I just got a new MacBook with Leopard. Overall, it looks great, but migrating from an older Mac is turning out to be a real pain. Read moreTo do it with Migration Assistant, you need to install that application on the older Mac (kind of a client-side application). Unfortunately, the application is not compatible with even Panther (OS 10.3), and I had to call support to even figure that out! So you're left with logging on to your hard drive (as root user) and bringing things over one by one (I'm still trying to figure out how to bring over iPhoto and Firefox bookmarks, etc.). So the migration process is neither smooth, nor elegant. One would think that the migration tool would be much more backwards-compatible, since it is specifically going to be used on older Macs!

    Just keeps getting better!

There are so many things in Leopard I like, I couldn't begin to tell you. I was unsure about upgrading since I liked Tiger so muchRead more, but I am very glad that I did. The main thing I wanted was to use the Time Capsule, which works perfectly. But there are many things that I immediately couldn't live without. Like Spaces, it's a new twist on an old Linux trick to have multiple desktops. The new dock is much better with it's fanning folder effects. Quick look is the greatest thing ever. I have a mouse button programmed to Quick Look, just click (or hit the spacebar) & you immediately see the contents of a file without ever opening it. It even works on music & videos.. Installation was a breeze & it runs great even on my old G4. In short, I love it!

    The dominator

This OS is far beyond anything the competition has to offer. The graphics are crisp and the OS performs very smoothly. Every time Read moreI open my computer, it always operates at the same speed unlik some others... What really makes a mac stand out is the fact that it has very few bugs ans is extremely reliable. That is the main reason why people buy Macs! On top of that, leopard has so many cool features like quick look (the document opens reaaly fast all the time) and time machine so that you dont have to worry about backing up your data. However, you do need an external hard drive. I give this operating system five thumbs up!!! The only complaint is that mail sometimes wont quit and a force quit is the only way.
