feeling sketchy and pessimistic from the beginning. i didn't expect much from kensington. anyway. as soon as i plug it into the A/…Read moreC plug. the arm was weak like i expected. but after i connected my iphone and the auxilary input, i heard a staticy feedback sound coming from my speakers. i believe this sound only comes when the iphone is charging for some reason, but why buy this thing if you cant use both. I prefer to have a monster auxilary cable because the copper wont wear and tear as easily as the other headphone cables i've had. i hope there will be a way that Apple can charge and connect the iphone to the auxilary, on a stable charger, with no feedback sound.

If your power port or cig. lighter is on a horizontal plane --forgetaboutit. If the plug is near your steering wheel (like on my T…Read morerooper), this thing is dangerous --forgetaboutit. If your car is not US standard plug... To say the least, I would not buy this thing. Taped and glued to my dash are the remnants of this device --as having the phone connected to the Sony BT for over-the-speaker HF calls with Aux jack works great. We all need something of a better design that can provide the functionality of a similar sorts, but this is not the one. Forgetaboutit and keep looking.

3G necessity!

Picked one up the same day I got my 3G. My truck's power port was perfectly located on my dash area. The gooseneck positioned th…Read moree 3G closer to eye level, so I could easily view it while driving (I know I shouldn't).
A few cool things that stand out:
1. I could swivel this into landscape mode, awesome for GPS/maps. I noticed when in landscape, the release button only released the top arm and not the bottom, which I'm assuming is intentional to keep the 3G in place.
2. I've got a skin on my phone and the dock is adjustable in every way. Spacer pops off by the connector, the clamps are wide enough to accomodate case, and the back support moves forward and back as needed.
Most importantly, does what it is supposed to, charge the phone!(181 of 191 people found this review useful)

The overall design is pretty good, like the way it positions the phone for easy reach and viewing, but I kinda wish the neck was just a touch longer so you could tilt it more. The dock was also so-so - functions but you have to really push it down onto the dock when you have any kinda of case on your phone.
The sound was fine - I think about the only thing that kinda irritated me was the lack of instructions - I mean is has an illustration depicting how to place the the charger base in the car lighter and then placing the phone in the dock and THAT'S IT. It fit into the cigarette lighter and I was able to keep my phone charged the whole trip. I was able to plug the iPhone easily into my cassette deck to listen to my music over the car's speakers. It also made it easy to use the iPhone's GPS features which won't die on you during a trip because it's being charged the whole time! The only thing I had a problem was if I took a corner to tight it would tip over, but it was more my fault then the power dock's.
