I got this drive because I wanted the safety of RAID-5 with better data efficiency than solutions that are only RAID-1 mirroring. …Read moreLike that it is easily reconfigured, as needs change.
Attractive, well-built, and easy to use.
The availability of the major interfaces - USB2, FW400, FW800, and eSATA lets me use the drive with any of my Macs.
Use it for Time Machine backups, and for my iPhoto and music library.
Also have a home-built RAID with older generation controller and drives. In the end, the LaCie is a better performer, nicer to look at and better value.
Looking for another to dedicate to HDV editing station for lacrosse videos. Will have to try out RAID-3 to check out the performance and safety capability over RAID-5.(7 of 8 people found this review useful)
