I absolutely love iLife 09. I'm really happy I upgraded. In all the applications the user interface is beautiful.I love the new "Faces" feature in iPhoto. All my photos are well organized. Garage Band is even more better, and iMovie is more useful for me.
I'm really happy with iLife 09! Well done Apple! :)

I'm so angry!! I just got this for my birthday, and I was all excited to play the new garage band (the SOLE reason I bought iLife). It's the same thing as the old one! There are no new loops and the "new stompbox effects" they keep advertising are kinda lame. Also, for some reason, you can't use loops and real instrument tracks in the same project. I mean, WHAT THE HECK? The only new feature is the lessons and you have to buy them! Please shoot me! Other than that... it's cool... I, uh, guess.

Totally worth it I just love iLife 09' so cool and I love all the new template, I wish everyone had a mac, so they could have iLife 09'!!!!! so worth it

disappointed with imovie 09

I'm agree with the other disappointed imovie reviews bellow. I can't import movies created in iMovie 08 without to have movies destroyed and impossible to re-edit them.

If you're a photographer don't buy it!

I recently up-graded to '09 and at first I was pleased with some of the features in the new iPhoto, but when I tried to play any slideshows which I had created in iPhoto 08 I found all the custom settings had been lost or mixed up! I spent many hours creating shows with careful timings, custom-tailored music, dissolves etc, and all the settings are gone!!! I'm furious!!! The support website shows many others have had the same problem.

Good product let down by serious iWeb problems

I upgraded to iLife/iWeb '09 as soon as it came out, excited to update our family website with pictures and blogs of our second baby. I had been using '06 since our first child was born and had no problems. Unfortunately for me, I spent tens of hours updating the site in '09 and then went to update the blogs last - and they didn't work. The software just sits there, maybe giving you access to the entries and maybe not, and then usually crashes. I have spoken to Apple on the phone twice and visited the Apple Geniuses twice, with no success. Their best suggestion was that my user account is corrupted, but that turned out to be false after I tried running '09 on both my MacBook and my wife's iMac - with the same exact results. So, there is clearly something about my blogs that '09 doesn't like, and I am left with no other option but to abandon them. After the countless hours I have spent on the site up to this point, this is a very painful decision. As an Apple user for 15+ years, I expected more. Maybe there will be a fix in iWeb '12...

I bought this software about a month ago. I wanted to upgrade from iLife 08'. The iPhoto faces and places are great. Garageband as always great. iMovie awesome. iDVD new themes. and much much more!!!

iPhoto has really helped me organize all of my photos according to my friends in "faces" and events. Only issue I've encountered is I can't get iPhoto to connect to Facebook to upload but that's a small drawback. All the programs are beautifully and brilliantly designed. Highly recommend.

Great but not perfect

I upgraded to iLife 09 about 3 months ago. For the most part, it is a great upgrade. The changes and upgrades made to Garageband are great. iDVD seems the same, although some new or completely customizable themes might be a better improvement. iMovie is still good, although I agree with some of the gripes about editing that have been posted. And iPhoto....
In concept, it's great. Faces, places etc. was a brilliant addition. Except for me it doesn't work. After about a month of flawless use I can no longer import photos without it hanging. Have reinstalled etc. to no avail. Not sure what's up with that.(82 of 95 people found this review useful)

I just bought a new macbook pro with ilife 09 installed and it is amazing! Of all of the programs, imovie 09 is one that really stands out. Apple has put the best features from imovie hd and then some into imovie 09. One feature that I really enjoy is the precision editor - I think that it gives you more flexibility than the timeline format ever did. Also, apple in all of its genius, has added themed transitions that allow you to carry a general theme throughout your project. I also love the new backgrounds, sound effects, picture in picture effect, titles, and green screen effect. iMovie offers more options and features than the average consumer could ever ask for. DEFINITELY a more than worthwhile update. Can't wait for ilife '10!
