Bose® Companion® 2 Series II Multimedia Speaker System
Great bang for the buck!!!
Written by SM from Saratoga Springs

I am an avid music fan and I wanted a set of fairly inexpensive speakers for my 24" iMac, these were the speakers for me. I wish they had a bit more bass to them, but considering their size and price, they more than get the job done. I listen to all kinds of music, rock sounds great, hip hop has a good amount of bass, but personally not enough for me, jazz sounds super sweet, The Beatles sound wonderful, and Doves new album is legendary with these speakers! I usually have to listen to music and movies on my Mac with volume turned all the way up, but with these speakers I have to keep them turned down so I don't keep my roommate up at night. I have always been a big fan of Bose but not of their prices, but in this case, it's a steal for Bose sound. If you really want some bass you might want to get the Companion 3 series, but be prepared to cash out. All in all, get these if you don't want to spend a lot for great Bose sound!!!

Bose® Companion® 2 Series II Multimedia Speaker System
suggestion

i tried these speakers at the store and i was impressed but for an extra 120$ i could get the companion 3 series speakers and they included a sub and a little separate control and just had alot more power. i strongly suggest that you get the bigger ones unless your planning on using them for way a portable application. the companion 3's work amazing though.. i have it at about 1/16th max volume for everyday listening and they are great.. i feel like i'm right there at the concert or what not. they also have small speakers that can be mounted onto your monitor, just over all amazing base and the treble is like WOW!!! so good.
buy them and i promise you won't regret it.(3 of 4 people found this review useful)

Just purchased

When I first bought the speakers, there was a constant buzz when not in use. I contacted BOSE and they said move the speakers farther from the computer. I had already tired this and it did not work. When I use the computer my I Phone sits next to me, so I moved the phone several feet away and the buzz is gone. Have idea if this was the problem but it seems to have worked!

Great Speakers

This is a pretty good pair of stereo speakers. Sure, the sound might be a little processed, but that happens in most all digital speakers. If you want a brand name and can pay the price, go to the store today and pick of this shiny toy.

A lot of Bang for the Buck
Written by JW from Raleigh

I've had these for about a year, and couldn't be happier with them. They're fairly mobile too. I'll move them around the house to a different computer sometimes, or to watch a movie in bed. I tried using them with Logic as reference speakers, but that was asking a little too much from them. That's not what they're designed to do. I'd suggest putting a piece of foam under each speaker so you don't get unnecessary bass or distortion at higher volumes. However, that's just a placement issue, and doesn't reflect negatively on the speakers. If you are used to cheap Dell desktop speakers like I was, you will be amazed at what comes out of these small speakers. I can't imagine what some of the higher end Bose speakers must sound like. For $100, you can't beat these little speakers.

Bose® Companion® 2 Series II Multimedia Speaker System
awesome

My Brother got these for college. For being 2.0 channel speakers you can hear them all around his floor and outside. if you ask me that is awesome. Next best thing to B&O. If you are looking for inexpensive speakers these are the ones to get. Only thing that kinda bugged me with them was a minor feedback coming from them if you have them cranked up with nothing playing.

Great little speaker - excellent headphone amp
Written by CC from Seattle

What these are: A great little speaker for low to mid-volume listening, very accurate, perhaps a little warm, but great bass response and clean crisp high-end. Very "Bose" sounding. Also great headphone amp (probably the most surprising feature). What they are not: Not a huge big speaker that is going to push a lot of air and fill up a room. Overall though these are a great value and won't disappoint the critical ear.

Big Sound, Small Speakers
Written by NS from Peterborough

Some reviewers have said that these don't have enough bass. Those people are crazy as far as I can tell, if anything the exact opposite is true: the bass almost overpowers everything else.
I listen to everything from jazz to metal, rap to country, and it all sounds great on these. Each instrument is crisp, clear and defined from the others. I have heard parts of songs I have never heard before using these speakers. They have the quality of much larger and much more expensive speakers. If you use a laptop primarily and travel a lot these are ideal for you.
The only problem is, as I mentioned, sometimes the bass overpowers the rest of the music, but this is only true of music in which the bass is already mixed very high. Excellent value.(7 of 7 people found this review useful)

Bose vs. Klipsch
Written by DS
Jan 27, 2008
I read BS's review from Jan 18th. BS told us we are better off with good sound quality speakers from B&W, Klipsch, KEF or Jamo. I took that advice and I checked into Klipsch and eventually purchased the Groove PM20's. However, when I actually heard the Bose Companion 2 at a store, they sounded even greater than the Klipsch's. I had them put side by side at home and noticed the following. The Klipsch's provides for bass control, which Bose doesn't have. The Klipsch's had more base. However, when I asked myself which played so that I can truly appreciate the entire sound of the song I was playing, I chose Bose. Can't explain it, but the Bose just sounded more natural. And BS is right in generally saying that Bose is notorious for not producing their specs and graphs. I got a very long response from them when I approached them about it.
