Good game but...
Written by RZ from Ridgefield

like someone said earlier, it won't let me install updates; so that's a bit of a hassle. the game also tends to freeze up or crash while playing, and it doesn't automatically save, so all the progress I made (which is usually a lot) gets lost. another thing I don't really like about the game is if you decide you want to start over with a planet, it deletes the whole planet, not just the game on it. I've had to delete some planets I was a fan of just because I wanted to start over with a new creature. but overall the graphics are good, the game is fun, it's just those nitpicky things that make it faulty.

BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!

The game works perfectly on my MacBook, and the graphics are great!!!!!!!!!! The game is exciting at first, but when you get further you'd have already fallen off your seat!!! The game also features a creature creator pack, where you create your OWN CREATURE!!!!!!!

OK but frustrating

Had a difficult time loading the game. Then It will not allow me to import and install updates. It will not allow some parts of game play (perhaps do to the failure of updates to work). I really need to find a good game for the mac.

A Decent Game, But Left Me Wanting More
Written by KS from Indianapolis

I think that, as a first installment of the game, it's great. But I will expect much more out of the next one. I agree with "SL from Andover" on a lot of the issues, and I can add some more. Firstly, I expected there to be more of an element of unguided evolution, meaning I thought that, through much of the game, my choices as to how I acted towards others (including being friends with too many civilizations who might be feuding, for instance) would determine more of the outcome of my game -- and maybe even how my creature looked a bit. I did have a lot of fun figuring it out as I went through the game, though, and I won't deny that I found it very entertaining. But for those who anticipated a game with an almost emergent quality to it, like I did, you will feel a tad disappointed. By and large, though, the game was fun.
The freezing up of the game during intense battles in space was annoying to me, as well, and I also didn't really care for the lack of navigation points in the galaxy. I at least felt that a bookmarking option of sorts that could be used on certain star systems would be very beneficial, although, with the plethora of star systems, even that might be cumbersome.
I hope I helped to persuade you to try this game out and have fun with it, and I hope that the problems I found with the game will be corrected in the next installment.(27 of 37 people found this review useful)

Highly Addicting
Written by ML from Garland

Great game for all ages! This game was bought for my 16 year old sister for x-mas by another family member. I am 22 years old and in college and play it! I am lucky enough to have this game on two computers and we'll be sitting at the same table on our different macbook pro laptops and we'll play straight into the morning if the computers let us.
Even though the game is highly addicting there are some set backs.
The game sometimes freezes and if you don't save you lose everything! Occasionally I have to hold the power button to reboot my computer when it freezes. Like I said, I have a macbook pro, a little over a year old with ram to spare and It still freezes. That is my only pet peeve abought this game.(24 of 29 people found this review useful)

Amazing. Put simply.

This is the most amazing game EVER. By ever I mean a capital E, V, E, and R. You not only play this game, you ARE this game. You become the game. In cell, it is like a more fun version of Pack-Man, and in the next stage you are shocked by the graphics. In tribe, you fight for survival, and in civilization, you dominate the planet. In space, you try to to take over the galaxy. All in all it is an amazing game.

Spore: Minor flaws, otherwise a great game
Written by RE from Calgary

Spore overall, is an amazing game, but most give up on it too easily. Spore runs through several different styles of gaming throughout its five stages. One of it's biggest flaws though, is the difficulty to earn DNA in cell stage, and the severe hand cramp. The feel of routine in creature stage is the most annoying though. Although they put most of their time into the creation of the space stage, the rest of it, although short, is incredibly addicting. The thing that most people lose tollerence for, is getting a start in space stage. It takes tons of time, but once you get the start, it is well worth the work. Online spore is nothing great, unless you want memory consumed on hundreds of unrequested downloads. All in all, spore has minor flaws that can be forgiven or overlooked.

Amazing. Worth every penny.

Spore kept my 14 year old son and 9 year old son playing together on an "out of school snow day" without fussing once. Horrible to admit but while I worked from home they played from 9 am to 6 pm conquering one world after another--working together--again, without fussing. Fascinating, interactive and stellar graphics. Imaginations run wild. Pricey but worth every penny.

Got boring real fast

While the concept is interesting, I found the implementation poor. There was so much that could have been done better that would have kept the thing interesting, and that they start to do, but it seems to me that they got distracted by the gaming aspect of it.
If you are really interested in this kind of thing, try to find Creatures3. It does not run on Macintosh in OSX but it will under windows and it is a much more interesting program.(5 of 26 people found this review useful)
