does the job, just one flaw

    Written by SL from Alameda

I bought this several months ago and it works well as described. I just have one complaint: I drive a 2008 Lexus IS250 and I plug my iPhone into the auxiliary port to play music. However, when I try to play music and charge my phone simultaneously, I get a static noise and the music is fuzzy and much quieter-- even in airplane mode. I don't know if this is a problem for everyone but it's pretty annoying for me.

    Great product.

I love that I can plug in anything with a usb cable. It's much less than a standard car charger and it's practically universal.

My only complaint is with the Griffin ipod/iphone cable that came with this--it has the logo on both sides, so it's hard to know which way is up when inserting it into my phone. After one or two tries, you can flip it over, but it's kind of annoying. This is easily fixed by using on of Apple's usb cables.

    Great product. Highly recommended.

    Works Fine

I bought it to replace my old charger, which also worked fine, but it wouldn't charge my new iPod nano 4th generation (because of the firewire/USB issue).

I wish somebody would make a car charger and a male-to-male mini audio cable (my car has a mini input for iPods) that would both fit together in the iPod at the same time. This charger and my Monster white cable fit in together if you shove hard. Not made to do so.

Ruins Your Audio /adds static/hum for Iphone 3g

Written by JS from LOS ANGELES

    Feb 22, 2009

It charges the Iphone, but it hisses when using the headphone jack in an Aux out... almost as if the power is effecting the headphone jack somehow. Unplug the power, audio is crystal clear, power in, "hiss-Pop-crackle-wuuuuuuuuh" the entire time.

Great design, but gives airplane mode nag screen

    Written by MD from Campbell

The design is great, and it seems to charge fine. However, it always gives the airplane mode nag screen when plugged into my iPhone 3G. The employees at the applestore say it should not, so I wonder if even though I bought this recently they sold me an older version and the problem is now corrected. Would be 5-stars without the airplane mode warning.

    Worth buying!

This is a pretty cool way to charge your phone on the go. The charging light indactor has this cool green or red glow. This product is worth buying and helps when you forget your USB cable at home!

    Belkin is better

Written by LB from EAGLE RIVER

    Feb 16, 2009

I bought this to replace my old Belkin charger because the guy who sold my iPod touch said the old one wouldn't work. Well, it does work and it works better than the Griffin. When I use the Griffin to charge my iPod, the sound quality diminishes and this weird static-y sound can be heard over the music. I never use it, I wouldn't even use it as backup. I just make sure to charge my iPod regularly before I go anywhere long distance. In other words, it was a waste of money. Since it does charge the iPod, I feel obligated to give it one star.

    Only 500 mA output current

    Written by AC from Kenilworth

    Jan 23, 2009

I bought from the Apple Store instead of from other places that had USB chargers for much less because I didn't want to risk my expensive iPhone 3G with a cheap charger. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I was surprised to learn that the Griffin charger's output is only 500 mA vs 1000 mA. The wall charger that comes with the iPhone 3G is 1 Amp (same as 1000 mA) why isn't this charger that much? Other people make 1000 mA USB power adapters. As a result I expect it will take longer to charge a low battery and it might not be able to charge during heavy use but that is not really a big deal. Good value for the price; it seems like a quality product. I like the indicator light that changes color once fully charged.
