I am in college and this program has worked out great. I have used Word to make great documents and awesome looking Research Paper…Read mores. Also, Powerpoint, can be used to make awesome slide shows that can impress all. All three, Word, Powerpoint and Excel, are very easy to use and are excellent for school projects. Entourage is very easy to use to keep track of your contacts, and does so in a very organized way.
Great software and I would recommend over iWork.(10 of 11 people found this review useful)

I've gotten a new job and haven't gotten Office '08 yet but I did have it at my last job. Both the Windows XP version and NeoOffi…Read morece suffer in comparison to Office 2008 for Mac. There really is no comparison. When I upgraded from a previous ver. of Office I was initially disappointed but got used to it (some prior buttons are gone). I felt it was as good a product that Gates can produce - it's not Apple-written software but it's fairly close. I'm ordering it for my new Mac with confidence and can't wait to install it.

As for the people complaining about the data-analysis pack, I think its a valid complaint. Especially since Microsoft partnered with a 3rd party and they sell it for $200! Other than that, I can't say I've had any issues. It hasn't crashed yet either.

No VBA, great interface

There's some pronounced pluses, but a big minus for power users like me.
Plus #1 is that it's Universal. As someone who runs a…Read more MacBook pro, I found that to be a huge plus. The speed improvement is noticeable.
Plus #2 is the interface. It's REALLY smooth, intuitive, and well-done.
Plus #3 is PowerPoint. The makeover is just right.
The big minus is no VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). If you use VBA to automate processes in Office, it's gone from 2008. Not coming back.
But if you don't need VBA, and have never used it, it's well worth it.

Excel 2008 not for power users

The elimination of VBA from Excel 2008 means that users who depend on features like Solver, histograms, extended statistical analy…Read moreses (such as ANOVA), and custom VBA enhancements are left out in the cold. We are left with two options: (1)stay with Excel 2004 or (2)buy the Windows version (Excel 2007). The first option penalizes Intel-based Mac users with reduced performance. I've reluctantly gone with the second option - which requires Vista or XP and Parallels (or similar program). The other problem with this approach is the new "Ribbon" interface to the Office products. Expect to lose a couple of weeks of productivity as your learn how to locate your favorite functions.
