Top notch for a 5GHz 802.11n wireless router

Can't say it was a flawless installation, had some initial issues setting things up. First of all, don't upgrade to firmware 7.4.2…Read more immediately (mine came with 7.4.1). Test things out first with this 7.4.1 firmware and see if everything is speedy and works fine. I made the mistake of immediately upgrading to 7.4.2, one of my servers had issues with high latency pings and slow throughput (running an D-link DWA-552 draft n card).
My Macbook Pro has no issues connecting at 5GHz, same for a PC netbook.
Range is a little less than my other D-link router, but at 5GHz that's what it is to expect. I wanted all my devices to use the newer 5GHz Wi-fi band, and definitely, this is the router to get.
Setup is a little wonky, the Airport utility fails to find the AEBS some times.
Only thing that I don't like about this router, is the fact that you have to restart it everytime you make a change. Annoying when you're first setting it up, but once you're all set, you should never need to touch it again.
Overall, kinda pricey, but worth the money over comparable competitors.(8 of 8 people found this review useful)

What a Relief!

My previous well-known router, which shall remain nameless, worked well when it was working, but every time I had a serious proble…Read morem with my computer, it had to be set up again. I couldn't figure out how to do this and the manufacturer's tech support was of no help, so I had to pay $100 to $150 to have someone come out and set it up for me. This happened 3 times in 3 years. This week after the manufacturer took 19 email messages to tell me he couldn't help me, I decided to spend $179 for Airport Extreme instead of $150 for another service call. I did need help setting it up, but Apple Tech Support had me up and running on three computers within half an hour. And I am amazed at how much faster the internet works now.
