Advanced Technology
The JBL On Stage IIIP loudspeaker dock combines many proprietary technologies to provide the highest quality sound, astonishing bass and clear accurate sound from any direction.
- Odyssey Transducers - The Odyssey drivers deliver accurate high frequencies while capable of low-frequency extension of four octaves, unlike traditional powered tweeters. This design provides a full, rich frequency response, from low bass to the highest highs
- Slipstream Port Design - The port minimises boundary layer separation, producing high-output bass with low distortion
- COE (Computer Optimised Equalisation) - The system equalisation is computer-optimised to provide a rich, complete soundstage over a wide range of listening positions.
- OCT (Optimised Compression Topology) - The proprietary compression technology ensures clean, accurate sound at high output levels
- AEMS (Advanced Energy Management System) - The automatic battery-saving shutoff will automatically put the system into sleep mode when there is no audio input. The system awakens with just a touch and resumes at the same volume level
Battery or A/C Powered
The system uses six AA batteries and allows up to 12 hours of continuous play at normal listening levels. An amber LED flashes when the battery protection circuit senses that the batteries are low. The system also operates of a standard wall outlet using the included power supply and cord.
Remote Control Included
The JBL On Stage IIIP IR remote has several modes of operation. The music mode allows you to control the volume, change tracks, fast forward and fast reverse. The navigation mode allows you to access menus on your iPod just as if you were controlling the unit itself. You can search your music, watch your slideshows, and find and play your videos.

Got this as an early Father's Day present (don't ask!). A great sound from a small box, very low profile but sound quality very go…Read moreod. It does have a PC usb connector to attach to my PC. If you want good sound from an unintruisive box, then this is definitely worth considering.

Obviously an improvement from the normal version of the speaker because the bass is great, they've taken out the ipod connector an…Read mored put in a subwoofer, so there isnt an ipod cable connector so you can connect the speaker to your computer.
However the speaker is brilliant, the sound is crisp and clean and fills any room size, and the remote is very useful too.
I was comparing it to a top of the range sony hi-fi i have and although the sony is very good - and possibly louder, the jbl had a much cleaner and more exact sound. If you turn your back or close your eyes its almost as if the music is being performed live in the room. And i thought the JBL was slightly better than the hi-fi.
If listening to classical music, you can hear all the parts, and infact i've heard most of my music collection better than ever - including rock music on this machine.
And also theres no interferance from the iphone which i suppose is why you'd get it in the first place.
Downsides? It doesnt have rechargeable batteries, you have to get 6 AA batteries.
It doesnt have an ipod connector so you cant use the speaker as a dock, and you cant connect other speakers to it, just other players to play through.
The remote can also be temperamental because the reciever is behind the mesh at the front so it doesnt always pick up the remote signal.
But apart from that i wouldn't look back on buying it and would certainly reccomend it for anyone who wants to hear incredible sound from their ipod/iphone.(171 of 185 people found this review useful)

Claims that they are tinny are rubbish!
