There is a new iM600 USB version
Written by AC

Altec have an updated iM600 USB version that will charge the Nano 4G and Touch 2G. It can be identified by "ESS" button on the top…Read more (Extended Sound Stage)
For those of you with the older model (with an SFX button), it can be made to charge these too, simply by connecting a USB charger or computer port to the USB mini-b socket on the back of the speakers.
For those wondering what changed;
The latest Nano 4G and Touch 2G only support charging from the USB (5V) pin on the docking connector. The older models also supported Firewire (12V) charging via a different pin on the edge connector. A lot of older models of speakers only provide 12V power to the docking connector, so do check if buying for a new ipod.(16 of 16 people found this review useful)

I really feel that Apple should have disclosed this rather large discrepancy when they claim it works for ipod nano 4th generation - consumers beware!

Beware Apple Blurb...

I bought one of these on the strength of the compatibility chart here which says it works with Itouch 2. Well it does... kind of. …Read moreBut your ipod touch will not charge so it's not a docking station but a rather expensive set of ok speakers. Most annoying.
Many of these 'docking' stations won't work with the latest gen ipod touch because Apple changed the pin configuration in a way that has no backwards compatibility with older docks. Typical Apple thoughtlessness (to go with the constant changing of battery and adapter requirements). Your stuff is great Apple but your user relationship management stinks(117 of 122 people found this review useful)
